@DRMacIver @sedatesnail To be clear I was the one trying to fix them, but there were so so so many
English

@doismellburning @sedatesnail In particular one thing that's quite important IME is that Claude absolutely can't fix its mistakes. It's gotten better at it than it used to be, but it's still not good enough to be a good tradeoff to try.
English

@DRMacIver @sedatesnail Right that makes sense cheers - this was my first real go at having it do something I didn’t have familiarity with, which I think led me to overestimate its likely correctness
English

@doismellburning @sedatesnail I think maybe you just need to give up earlier. IME Claude's answers are usually either immediately helpful (if not necessarily correct) or a dead end.
English

@DRMacIver @sedatesnail Hm, I had the opposite experience recently with an example of a LangChain agent - I wasted so much time trying to fix brokenness, I gave up and regretted not doing so sooner
English

@sedatesnail Yeah but it's pretty easy to tell when it's done that and it doesn't waste much time.
English

@eshear I get the theory. In practice all our locals were note-or-phonecall based and it was a pain to manage. Was easier to just have regular weekly grocery delivery and pop to the shops for anything extra needed…
English

@EODHappyCaptain * So many individual places had terrible delivery sites - it’s great to have a good unified interface
* The costs aren’t pleasant but they don’t seem terrible
* I’ve been fortunate enough to have good experiences
It’s Good Enough for me, but I appreciate the issues
English

Can someone explain the appeal of food delivery services like DoorDash and UberEats? The food is more expensive, there are a ton of service fees, and then you are at the mercy of a person to deliver it that is not affiliated with the restaurant, and if the order is wrong the customer service is terrible. what am I missing?
English

@roguecaliber This is what I really liked - such a push towards “do what works”
So many modern players seem to be all about “the rules say X”
English

I'd say AD&D 2E is a much simpler system to learn than modern D&D because it has less options and less rules overall. Character creation is fairly straight forward and doesn't take very long.
But less rules overall can make it more difficult than modern D&D, because there is very little hand holding. The books provide a framework to play the game without telling you how you should play the game. Beauty of that is as long as you're having fun you're doing it right. It's very much up to you and your group what sort of game you want to play and to make it happen.

@pjm1kbw @JamesTurner37 Oh gosh, thank you for sharing the sad news. He was a joy to follow on here - thoughtful, insightful, and lovely. My condolences
English

James Turner was a superb advocate, the family lawyer’s lawyer. He loved and was fascinated by the law. I was privileged to work with him and to be led by him many times. I was honoured to call him my friend. He was loved and will be missed. @JamesTurner37 1kbw.co.uk/news/chambers-…

@WebDevLaw …I refreshed harder and it eventually worked, apologies and thanks!
English

@WebDevLaw Thanks - cart is empty apparently, alas! Will try to debug when I get to a laptop, cheers!

@DefenderOfBasic As the owner of a house where the kitchen tap is mains-fed, but the bathroom tap is fed from a tank in the loft, I get this…
English

@doismellburning @kane As you vary the rpm the generator's efficiency (watts per gallon) varies. Since you know the load (how many watts are optimal for the car battery and how many cars you're charging), the generator is sized so that it always runs at the optimal rpm where it consumes the least fuel.
English

This meme pops up every once in a while, but an EV charged by diesel generator is still more efficient than a diesel truck, even w transmission loss, bc generators can run in the ideal part of the powerband 100% of the time whereas diesel trucks cannot (starting and stopping).
Wall Street Apes@WallStreetApes
Amazon electric vehicles seen charging in the snow All these vehicles are being charged by a huge diesel generator. The generator is on, you can hear it running providing the power “Doesn’t that defeat the purpose when you literally have a diesel powered generator electrifying all of the electric vehicles?” This is Democrat’s “Green Energy.”
