After watching the trailer, I could say that I don't think that Paapa Essiedu is a good fit for a character like Serverus Snape when you think about it. In the books, he is both ugly and pale, yet the actor doesn't resemble the character in terms of how his face looks. (1/5)

Second look at Paapa Essiedu as Snape in HBO’s Harry Potter series.
People can no longer keep claiming this was purely about casting the best person for the role. If that were true, they would have cared whether he actually looked like Snape. They clearly did not.
That means this was intentional.
The people in charge knew exactly what they were doing, and they knew it would be controversial.
