It is with utmost sadness with a heavy heart that I address the tragic and senseless murder of Honourable Justice Azuka, the representative of Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. His decomposing body was discovered at the 2nd Niger Bridge, marking a devastating loss for his family, constituents, Onitsha community and all of us. Honourable Azuka was a dedicated public servant who tirelessly championed the interests of his people. His abduction on December 24, 2024, while returning home in Onitsha, and the subsequent discovery of his lifeless body, underscores the escalating insecurity that has plagued our society. This heinous act is not just an attack on one individual but a brutal assault on all of us and the sanctity of human life. It is a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the pervasive insecurity that threatens the fabric of our nation. To the family, Onitsha community, and constituents of Honourable Azuka, I extend my deepest condolences. No words can adequately convey the depth of our collective grief, but please know that we stand with you in this time of profound sorrow. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we find the strength to forge a safer and more just Nigeria. -PO

I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.   In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million.   Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.

Starting today and until U.S. tariffs are removed, Ontario is banning American companies from provincial contracts. Every year, the Ontario government and its agencies spend $30 billion on procurement, alongside our $200 billion plan to build Ontario. U.S.-based businesses will now lose out on tens of billions of dollars in new revenues. They only have President Trump to blame. We’re going one step further. We’ll be ripping up the province’s contract with Starlink. Ontario won’t do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy. Canada didn't start this fight with the U.S., but you better believe we're ready to win it.
