@LacyRiffle familiar with. was doing this until I'm about 1000 ELO. then I start watching matches from a guy called agadmator on yt. tons of ppl say that solving chess puzzle improves you a lot but I'm too lazy tbh, was able to reach 1500+ ELO without doing any.

@LacyRiffle now that I only play online, my style has shifted to a more solid one. well, do you have plan regarding chess? getting stronger, keep up with pro scene, or smth? or you just wanna play casually once in awhile?

@LacyRiffle ofcourse, chess is chess, wherever you play it. I’ve hardly played offline chess myself since ages ago. well offline chess is obviously better cos of the cigarette, coffee, crowds, and all that. I really used to play insanely aggressive chess just for the crowds.

@zchovy @muncorner 2024 seru banget sih, masih keinget banget sama galio faker. tapi gua lebih milih 2025 karena: 1. bdd (with his underdog team) akhirnya dapet final pertamanya setelah outperform chovy 2. doran join T1 langsung juara 3. the opening ceremony was LIT (with all that old songs)

@muncorner hi, i like following League of Legends competitive scene dan main wild rift, juga main honkai star rail and recently got back into genshin impact. besides that, I enjoy F1 dan one piece. bmf?

@voscise watching or studying defensive players can sometime feel extremely boring, so if you mind that I recommend you to watch mikhail tal instead since his games are always magical and exciting. since my father was a chess addict, I got into chess naturally.

@voscise I mean, if you’re into more solid and steady styles, you can learn from nimzowitsch or capablanca (or petrosian if you’re into something extremely defensive). perhaps, if at some point you think you’d enjoy playing more aggressively, you could watch mikhail tal.

sindarov vs dubov gon' be lit. I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy watching a tactical player face a positional one more because, y'know, clashing styles is kinda hit-or-miss. but since it's sindarov and dubov it’ll be anything but boring.

@m0_0nbeam I used to enjoy playing tabletop games too, mostly uno and cards. but once in a while, my brother brings some new exotic games like saboteur and stuff. too bad we never play dnd, I’ve always wanted to host a session as a gm.

so, what got you into chess?

one of my favorite one was the catcher in the rye, somehow this book makes me feel like my thoughts are clearly represented. also, in a way, makes me feel like I'm reading a journal of younger me.

I usually rate books (specifically fiction) based on how they make me feel. I'll let someone else figure things out and rate it based on things like accuracy, plot, character, and stuffs.
