Let me explain the reality of this to Nigerians so you’ll understand the gravity of this.
This Government has done nothing but steal our smiles.
The minimum wage in Nigeria is N70k per “MONTH” $50 oh
You’re asking a minimum wage eager to pay 25k with is exactly “35.7%” “35.7%” of their entire earning in a month.
just because they want to have a little celebration party for the birth of their child with a small amount of friends in their own family home and space even rented place that they still pay “RENT” that is 300% higher than their monthly income
They’d still pay extra tax on top of this one way or another
There are no free parks in Nigeria.
No safe empty less busy space, built for relaxation to move and spend time with your loved ones.
The beaches are getting monetized something that should be free,
The only place you can do anything for fun for free is in your house which of course you pay hefty amount of money on rent
The government has made things difficult for people to have fun, everybody works and there are less money or time for anyone to have fun.
Yet they’re placing 35% tax on a little wage just to smile with your family and friends.

These were the same lines used against me at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, when I was one of the few prominent voices speaking out. Ten years later, we still blame the media instead of confronting and containing the terror. Tell the more than 200 residents of Ngoshe now enslaved by Boko Haram that the problem is media reporting. Tell the villagers still in shock after ISWAP carted away arms and ammunition in one week, supplies that it usually takes them two to three years to acquire. In the past officials pretend to listen even they rarely act. Now, they don't pretend at all, and mass deaths and Abductions have become part of our identity as a nation.
