A class-action lawsuit was filed on April 30, 2026, in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Seattle) by retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and a beneficiary. Lead plaintiffs include former King County Sheriff and Congressman Dave Reichert, along with leaders from the Retired Seattle Police Officers Association and Retired Firefighters of Washington. It seeks to represent all ~5,500 LEOFF Plan 1 members and beneficiaries.

I met with kids in Yakima who rely on housing and homelessness programs to keep a roof over their heads. Trump tried to cut these programs by HALF. I said no–and even increased that funding. Let’s build more housing for our kids, not a ballroom for Trump.

It really pisses me off that Washington state taxpayer money keeps getting shoveled into these homelessness programs with zero real audits! Most of them should be slammed under continuous, real-time flow audits so the grift gets caught before another dime vanishes. This latest KCRHA disaster, where they can’t account for $13 million in public funds (on top of an $8 million unreconciled mess and a $44.7 million negative cash hole), is straight-up criminal negligence after raking in over $533 million total. Completely unacceptable. This isn’t new. We’ve seen the same “missing” money bullshit before: back in 2021, Seattle straight-up lost over $831,000 in homeless shelter funds to fraudsters who stole it right out of the system. King County’s own Department of Community and Human Services audits exposed lax oversight on nearly $1.8 billion in grants, with unapproved payments, confirmed losses, and potential fraud running into the tens of millions. Previous KCRHA audits already flagged $30 million in massive financial statement errors and chronic negative cash balances. The money isn’t “missing”!! It was criminally poorly managed, misspent, or outright stolen while the body count on the streets keeps climbing and programs hemorrhage cash. Elected officials like the Mayor of Seattle and their lazy, overpaid staff need to start going to jail for these constant mismanagement of tax dollars crap right now. No more excuses. Governor Bob Ferguson, instead of your lazy default “just tax the people of WA state more” cop-out pushing massive tax hikes, a new millionaires’ tax, and endless revenue grabs to paper over shortfalls and debts; you should focus on audits, implementing ironclad systems of checks and balances in WA state, and actually managing our tax dollars like they’re not an infinite slush fund. DO YOUR JOB. Address the real problem: runaway waste, fraud, and zero accountability in these programs that have burned through billions with nothing to show for it except more tents and more excuses. Taxpayers are done funding this endless, unaccountable scam. Fix it or get out of the way @GovBobFerguson
