Dear friends,
Reading your comments to my previous tweet, I realized that it should have been clearer and more responsible.
It was obviously not aimed at Danya's close friends or God forbid family. I was referring to people who now refer to themselves as friends, but did very little to help. It did annoy me, and does annoy now. I never had a privilege to call Danya a friend, but I acknowledge that FIDE also could and should have done better.
We need to look into our policies, and probably not to wait for a formal complaint, but to step in and protect the people in such a situations. Very difficult to balance it all, but we will do our utmost.
On a personal level: the news of Danya's passing shocked me. It triggered a lot of feelings, and maybe I was too emotional writing about it. And emotions are rarely a good companion of wisdom.
English

@NRein96 @DanielRensch Anish probably meant it as a joke but it’s red meat for people who think there’s a chesscom mafia who muzzles players for speaking out.
English

@DanielRensch I thought the “remain on payroll” thing was just a joke.
English

We can debate whether we communicated these changes well enough. I think we did, you may disagree. Fair enough.
And I love you, Anish, but the implication that you are holding back or being censored in ANY way because "you're on payroll" is BS and not ok. Whether you make amazing Chessable courses or not you can always critique us, but let's get some facts straight.
We notified all titled players that Proctor cameras may be shown on broadcast, and our regulations clearly state this as well. Players have also been on "Zoom" Fair Play calls for years and this expectation of those same cameras being on the show is not new. Unfortunately, players don't always read the communications and regulations, and such information may be missed. Players can read chess.com/legal/events if they are curious about all the rules.
Titled Tuesday is a BIG deal. And now it's an even BIGGER deal. It's a space for the best in the world to do battle with thousands of talented titled players each week with real stakes on the line. If players want to play weekly in Titled Tuesday, we do need them to comply with our Fair Play and broadcast requirements and be dressed to be on camera in what may be the biggest competitive moment of their life.
Also, players can always follow your lead and simply email us before an event to ask us about the regulations. We will tell them, just like our team informed you yesterday 😉
Anish Giri@anishgiri
@DanielRensch You and me are fully aligned on the grow the game aspect, but I am looking at it from the lens of the player, while you look at it from the lens of the organizer. That is fair, I want no beef and wish to remain on the payroll.🫡
English

@JessBlank @HAUNTEDYAOl I mean thất does bring up the debate on at what age would someone considered an adult. 20? 21? And then you would have to considered the legal implications of making the age of legally an adult older than 18.
English

@AliixandreOG @TheNegaV @Tibo50941448 @Spideraxe30 You can just not buy a skin if you think it’s a bad value.
It doesn’t affect the game.
English

@TheNegaV @Tibo50941448 @Spideraxe30 Not to mention the quality of skins now are much lower than they used to be. The chosen wolf kindred skin for wolf doesn’t change colors with the rest of the chromas for lamb. There’s more bugs with skins now than before. Those layoffs hurt the game so badly.
English

@kramnikstudent @VBkramnik @FedericoZeus @anishgiri Yeah I don’t think we’re interested in your opinion on the matter.

English

@dougblackio @VBkramnik @FedericoZeus @anishgiri Ok he blocked u but clearly Danya's gazes are long and looks like he reading something probably engine evaluation
The exact same pattern is repeated when he acknowledges that he has loaded an engine
Sorry Kramnik hater but it looks like it is Danya who has 2 prove his innocence
English

@VBkramnik @FedericoZeus @anishgiri Why is it nonsense when applied to your games but valid investigation when applied to others?
English

@tttteemu @doc_respawn Just like NRG lost to G2 last year right? We're from NA, we know we ain't winning Worlds, but we can absolutely beat EU and the rivalry is my favorite part of all of lolesports, so yeah, I wanted it.
English

@VBkramnik @at_the_middle @notamachinee “There is nothing of a style in 3 min games”
You cannot be serious.
English

@at_the_middle @notamachinee But many of them arent overrated but underrated in fact, let alone there is nothing of a style in 3 min games in fact, etc
He must say sonething explaining unexplainable but your choice believe it or your common sense

What is happening?
Vladimir Kramnik@VBkramnik
Interested, @anishgiri @LevAronian @FabianoCaruana @MagnusCarlsen and others, would still keep silent about this and pretend its ok? It is not obviously. Would at least some player raise his voice against such a clear violation of rules as having eval bar streaming? Let us see 😊
English

@VBkramnik @MeerMaurits @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru I could but the idea here is to make the data open source so people can slice and dice it however they want. Would take someone familiar with Sheets about 5 seconds to filter to only 3|0 games above 2000.
It’s the raw data if people want to do their own analysis.
English

@dougblackio @MeerMaurits @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru And I would suggest cutting games against very low rating opponents maybe like 2000
English

Hey @anishgiri I ran into someone here @NorwayChess who has some odds and data to share on our upcoming match 😬
Thanks for nothing @drmehmetismail 🤣
English

@VBkramnik @MeerMaurits @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru And here's the repo that contains both the raw chess.com API results (complete with PGNs) and the simple script I wrote to turn that into a more easily parsable CSV.

@VBkramnik @MeerMaurits @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru I pulled all @GMHikaru chess.com results from 2021 to May 2024 in case the other participants in the thread want to run stats on the entire dataset.
Here they are in a google sheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d….
English

@jpalioto @MeerMaurits @VBkramnik @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru Matter of fact, yeah seems like you could put it together.
Here are his games from March (JSON) for example.

English

@jpalioto @MeerMaurits @VBkramnik @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru Oh actually seems like they do have some endpoints. So theoretically supported as long as the endpoints work on high volumes of games.

English

@MeerMaurits @VBkramnik @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru Assuming this is the player you could pull their games directly from chesscom and run stats yourself which I imagine is vastly preferable to trying to compute second order stats with obfuscated/selectively chosen data.
English

@MeerMaurits @VBkramnik @jpalioto @anishgiri @statlurker @mrdowdeswell @howlingmadbenji @MartinRossini @DanielRensch @NorwayChess @drmehmetismail @GMHikaru Yeah he did a 46.5/47 streak [0] later on which matches the screenshot (and spawned the 72/74 discussion in the first place).
