@lynn_ngugi1 I need an interview to explain this. It goes deeper than most people are willing to go.

They are not “ditching” global payment systems when you factor in international acceptance.
Whether you are talking about Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, or MIR, every system that works across borders depends on a network that is globally accepted and interoperable.
There are only a handful of these at scale:
•Visa and Mastercard dominate globally
•UnionPay has strong reach, especially tied to China
•MIR is mostly regional with limited international acceptance
So if a card is accepted in “200 countries,” it is not operating in isolation. It is either:
•Partnering with one of these networks
•Or clearing through banks that are connected to them
What Ghana is doing is more strategic than the headline suggests. They are:
•Embedding payments into national identity
•Building domestic payment rails to reduce fees and control data
•Positioning for more financial independence locally
But internationally, the reality does not change.
Cross-border payments still run through global infrastructure. No country today, not even China or Russia, operates a fully isolated system with true worldwide acceptance.
So this is not about replacement.
It is about owning the local layer while still plugging into the global system when needed.
That is the real play.

🚨BREAKING: Ghana becomes the first African country to integrate payment into its Citizens' Identity Card, ditching US-based payment giants Visa and Mastercard in Africa
The card is now widely accepted in over 200 countries for online, in-store, and ATM use. It allows for secure purchases, international payments, and offers perks like insurance and emergency assistance.
Ghana Card holders can activate their card using the MyCitizens App or by dialling *402#

@Wanjiru2027 You can’t claim your late husband’s property if you remarry. Just leave the property to your children as you continue getting your d!ck elsewhere. Rules are rules and this is a lesson to married wimen out here.

They say you raise the bar with your guests& this year I started from the very top.
Five years old, standing on my shoulders, doing what he does best.
Together we made a Kenyan classic. Ugali, Nyama choma and Kachumbari.
One day he’ll stand on his own but today, we stood side by side, growing my greatest legacy and my best friend.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
