@skysoundfanatic Dune sound post was done in LA, but some Bay Area people worked on it: Alan Splet, Leslie Shatz, Ann Kroeber, all subsequently at Fantasy (aka Saul Zaentz Film Center)

David Lynch worked more with the Saul Zaentz Film Center on the Twin Peaks pilot, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and I think Blue Velvet — not sure if that studio did the sound for 1984's Dune, but all 4 aforementioned involved veterans of Skywalker Sound. x.com/douglasmurray/…

@skysoundfanatic I also heard that Alan Splet didn't work on Twin Peaks pilot because he found the emotional toll was too great on Blue Velvet. He told me that he wouldn't work on it because "I don't do TV." He also had taken a job on Ted Kotcheff's film Winter People, which mixed right after us.

My prayers go out to David Lynch and his family; Mr. Lynch is a maestro of cinema. He specialized in horror, but his works should remain as a creative influence in the art and craft of filmmaking. At times even Lynch himself contributed to the sound post-production of his films!

@MelBrooks you have my undying gratitude for recognizing David's genius before most of the rest of us. We will miss his wonderful and provocative contributions to our cultural cannon.

@ucccreates @MusicUCC Thanks for the praise! In their enthusiasm they called me "chief Sound Designer for The Batman" which exceeds my actual role, which was Supervising Sound Editor, alongside Will Files, who did at least as much sound design as I. I am very proud of our work together.

Douglas Murray, who graduated from @MusicUCC MA Experimental Sound Practice in 2020, is in the final shortlist for the award of an Oscar. He was the chief Sound Designer for The Batman, which is in the running for ‘Best Sound’. We can't wait for March 12th! 👏 #oscars2023
