@TalkNats Not disagreeing, but don't the draft signees (and random other unassigned players) report to the Nats Spring Training facility in WPB and play games against similar players from HOUS, STL, MIA and NYM through Sept? Bummer that the stats from those games aren't available.

MLB did a real disservice by cutting off the Complex League schedule so early after the draft. That is where players should be getting their first taste of pro ball. That needs to change.

Thursday is the final game of the #Nats Florida Complex League. The team will promote a few of those players per a source to Single-A Fredericksburg. At some point, expect that №1 draft pick Chris Hacopian is also promoted. He is now at the West Palm Beach complex.

Ultimately, the NCAA continues to shoot itself in the foot. We've been talking about 5-in-5 for two years now. If they had voted on it before the end of the season and grandfathered in the graduating seniors, we could have avoided all this.

@TalkNats When the Nats/Yankees game was delayed last Friday, Nats TV went to Luis Perales start against Woo Sox. Perales is not close to MLB ready; Despite throwing harder than Bennett, Perales has serious command issues, while Bennett appears to be a young version of Foster Griffin.

Jake Bennett pitches a 6.0 inning scoreless 1-hit gem. His ERA pushes down to a 2.35 in his 9 MLB starts. He will probably be 2nd in the ROY voting behind Kevin McGonigle. And 8 months ago, Bennett was a Washington #Nats top prospect and Paul Toboni traded him to his old team.

The claim that currrent leadership can't develop off talent is lazy and simply wrong, both at MLB and MILB levels

@dougprox @oldtownsfinest1 If you are using a 3 month sample to justify if an organization is good or not, that’s uniformed. Most of these players they have currently aren’t homegrown. I’ll exclude King and Willits here, but the last R1 hitter they produced who was good was Rendon. They miss a ton early

Robert Hassell III cleared waivers and has been assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. So he remains in the Nationals organization after getting DFA'd.

@MarkZuckerman Yesterday (Wed), Yean pitched yesterday 1 perfect inning (8 pitches). So, he should be fresh if the Nats bring him back tomorrow. Also, Cole Henry has not pitched since Monday (July 6). So, he is an option too.

Nationals have placed RHP Brad Lord on the 15-day IL (retroactive to 7/6) with left side tightness.

Jake Irvin is facing live hitters (Jose Tena, Andres Chaparro) for the first time since going on the 15-day IL with a shoulder strain 6 weeks ago. If all goes well, he could begin a minor-league rehab assignment next.
