Right now, my browser tabs and slack reminders are my todo list and this is not a good thing.

Beyond a certain level in your career, there is no permanent solution to a lack of time. The best way to cope with this new reality is to be extremely clear on the 1-2 things you must focus on doing really well in a given day, given week, given month (and actually get them done).

@bphogan Shared this with some folks on my team earlier this week - the laughter went from finding it funny, to finding it right.

@bphogan Having hired and worked with many of your students, you were amazingly successful!

But not everything needs to be an assessment. I taught programming by having students work in groups during class, but work individually on assessments. I think I was largely successful.

Yup. And I wanted to change that. I encouraged meaningful comments, separation of concerns, and clarity over cleverness in the 4 years I taught higher ed. But while I allowed collaboration in the classroom, I still had to make students work independently to prove competence.

University #coding versus industry coding: U: comment every line to make grading easier and enable partial credit I: comment only where the code doesn’t speak for itself, such as why something needs to be done, or must be done a certain way

I used to think my startup needed 100 features to be successful 😅

Hey everyone. After almost 6 years, today is my last day at @digitalocean. I couldn't have asked for a better place to call my work-home. Amazing place, amazing team. New things ahead.

Does anybody want to buy a computer collection I have been gathering since 1993? This is less than half of it. I am considering a move, and I'm not sure these can go with me to the new place. Would love to keep them all together somehow. Want to start a museum?

Being an adult involves far too few discussions about Calvin and Hobbes, and I don't like that part. Hobbes is the only orange cat I want to talk about on social media anyway.

Signs into work. Looks at calendar. Looks at pile of work that needs to get done by tomorrow. Screams into the void.

@AndrewWarner Just used this approach yesterday, and had the interviewee stop and say “wow, that was a great question” more than a few times. Felt a bit odd at first, but the results were fantastic.

Why read #StopAskingQuestions? Customer interviews👇 "A friend and I were accepted into an accelerator program and were in the process of conducting customer interviews. I was looking for content that would help us run better interviews and learn more from them." @dougrhoten

@jasonbock @CenturyLink @comcast Ask for a new modem. Had mine replaced with a different manufacturer after the tech said a bad firmware upgrade was the root cause.
