Nos quedan pocos acuerdos como sociedad. Malvinas es uno. Lo que hizo la selección el otro día exponiendo al mundo una situación de ocupación colonial en pleno siglo XXI es maravilloso. Lo repito para distraídos: Argentina es un país soberano ocupado ilegítimamente en gran parte de su extensión por Gran Bretaña. Por eso no era “sólo un partido de fútbol”. Porque el poder blando también se ejerce, aunque surja de manera plebeya, desordenada, pasional. Aunque no todos estén de acuerdo, ¿qué importa eso si el bien mayor está atendido? Desplegar el trapo hizo más que décadas de reclamos (que está bien seguir haciendo, aclaro). I have always believed Las Malvinas should be given back to Argentina. I even remember getting into a physical fight when I was at primary school with another kid about this issue. I told him that Maggie Thatcher only got involved in the war to get votes and save her premiership. That was just something I heard on TV and I repeated it, but it was true. It's just a question of justice really. We do not live in colonial times anymore, it's just wrong to have a colony 8,000 miles away and stick settlers on it. And give back Gibraltar while you're at it!
