Gang of NYPD at Wyckoff Heights in Bushwick protecting ICE…so much for being a sanctuary city @NYCMayor

ICE appears to have significantly increased its presence in Bushwick recently. If you see ICE, call or text the Hands Off NYC hotline: 229-304-8720 It’s also concerning that this many NYPD officers were deployed for what was clearly a justified gathering by local residents

@NYCMayor I’m out, good luck everyone. Hopefully @NYCMayor can do more to keep ICE out of this city. NYC, Brooklyn, and Bushwick especially is home to numerous kind, hardworking immigrants who have just as much right as anyone else to live here.

ICE confirmed in Bushwick at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, reportedly have someone in custody at the hospital. ICE maced early responders.

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

Julio Ipina Hernandez texted a Putnam County, NY sheriff’s detective in Dec. to report alleged drug and sex crimes. But the detective tipped off DHS about their Jan. 6 meeting. So ICE officers arrested him, and he spent ~2 months in ICE detention. gothamist.com/news/he-went-t…

Enormous NYPD presence after ICE left. Hearing (unconfirmed) 1 person detained. Nothing happening at the moment other than a ton of cops standing around as a handful of onlookers & responders also stand around. Video taken/shared anon.

I am gutted by the killing of 17-year-old Jonathan Melo, a high school student remembered by his family as someone who lit up every room he entered, brought joy to those around him, and dreamed big. On Friday evening, I spoke with his mother Raquel to express my deepest condolences. She shared that her focus is on securing justice for her son. My administration is committed to supporting his family in any way we can. No parent should have to carry this kind of loss. We owe it to Jonathan — and to every family across the five boroughs — to deliver on our commitment to the essential work of preventing violence and building a safer city for all, especially our children.
