Attorney General Tish James at Crown Heights JCC legislative brunch: “At a time when we are seeing antisemitism, it's really critically important that hatred and violence directed against the Jewish community not be tolerated. “It is our shared responsibility to keep all of them safe, because it cannot and will not be the responsibility of Jewish people alone.”

The Democratic primary for state comptroller is getting so contentious, candidates are fighting over endorsements from an activist most voters would have never even heard of cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/…

Mike Rogers has learned from Daddy Trump. He’s trying to pre-rig the election. He knows he can’t win without voter intimidation tactics like putting cops at the polls. What’s next? Poll taxes? GTFOH.

Looks like things have intensified with in Bushwick. From what I hear, protestors tried to block the road to prevent ICE from leaving Wyckoff Heights hospital and things got out of hand. Arrests, tasers, helicopters. Please stay safe if you are out there. Video is from 2:15am

@NYCMayor I’m out, good luck everyone. Hopefully @NYCMayor can do more to keep ICE out of this city. NYC, Brooklyn, and Bushwick especially is home to numerous kind, hardworking immigrants who have just as much right as anyone else to live here.

EXTREMELY important to note last night’s ICE activity in Bushwick was that ICE brought someone in their custody to a hospital. ICE DID NOT target the hospital. They can enter WITHOUT a warrant to ESCORT someone in their custody. ICE likely brutalized the person they brought in.

This is a violent and disturbing video of the NYPD throwing a sitting Council Member to the ground. The woman the Council Member was defending is in the middle of a deed theft dispute. Deed theft robs countless Black and Brown New Yorkers of their homes in our city.
Chi Ossé@OsseChi

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

This is why we need New York for All. The Putnam County Sheriff's office essentially turned Mr. Hernandez over to ICE after Mr. Hernandez reported drug & sex crimes The crimes Mr. Hernandez witnessed will seemingly continue, but at least we ruined a hardworking father's life
Arya Sundaram@arya_sundaram

Julio Ipina Hernandez texted a Putnam County, NY sheriff’s detective in Dec. to report alleged drug and sex crimes. But the detective tipped off DHS about their Jan. 6 meeting. So ICE officers arrested him, and he spent ~2 months in ICE detention. gothamist.com/news/he-went-t…

This is devastating news. No words can convey the grief this boy's family is going through. This is the second time in a matter of weeks where someone has been killed while walking to school. We must do more to make our streets safe. gothamist.com/news/9-year-ol…

ICE appears to have significantly increased its presence in Bushwick recently. If you see ICE, call or text the Hands Off NYC hotline: 229-304-8720 It’s also concerning that this many NYPD officers were deployed for what was clearly a justified gathering by local residents
Talia Jane ❤️‍🔥@taliaotg

Enormous NYPD presence after ICE left. Hearing (unconfirmed) 1 person detained. Nothing happening at the moment other than a ton of cops standing around as a handful of onlookers & responders also stand around. Video taken/shared anon.

If you were truly gutted, you’d be demanding accountability from—and proposing changes to—a system that left a 22yo repeat offender with an open CHILD RAPE case on the street with an ankle monitor instead of in jail where he belonged. Jonathan Melo—a former student of my wife’s, btw—is dead because reforms that you and your allies in Albany pushed for subordinated his safety and security to the interests of the offender class constituted by lowlifes like Tollinche. If you were truly gutted, you’d be calling for substantive changes designed to keep irredeemable monsters like Tollinche off the goddamn street. So how about it, @NYCMayor/@ZohranKMamdani? Will you push for allowing judges to remand dangerous defendants to pretrial detention? Will you support rebuttable presumptions of detention for serious offenders accused of crimes like child rape? Can you get behind meaningful mandatory minimums and habitual offender enhancements that will keep people like Tollinche behind bars for good? Or will you continue to support initiatives like “second look” and “elder parole” which are designed to give offenders like Tollinche the opportunity to leave prison and be back on the street long before they’ve served a just sentence? The People want answers.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

I am gutted by the killing of 17-year-old Jonathan Melo, a high school student remembered by his family as someone who lit up every room he entered, brought joy to those around him, and dreamed big.

On Friday evening, I spoke with his mother Raquel to express my deepest condolences. She shared that her focus is on securing justice for her son. My administration is committed to supporting his family in any way we can.

No parent should have to carry this kind of loss. We owe it to Jonathan — and to every family across the five boroughs — to deliver on our commitment to the essential work of preventing violence and building a safer city for all, especially our children.
