@PlumblineFaith Wow, I had no idea of your story. Such beautiful inspiration for my husband (who is battling terminal brain cancer) and myself. We have had to step away from all ministry nowadays and aren’t even in church (yet many believing friends surround us). Thank you for your honesty.

The older I get, the more I only want to read history books. Is this true for anyone else?

The King James Version (KJV) was a deliberate mis-translation written to undercut reform movements that might challenge established religious traditions.

King James actively used the official English church to advance his own power. To further that goal, he wanted a Bible translation that propped-up the existing church establishment that was under his control. To do so, he ordered the translators to follow 15 rules. Rule #3 required that “The Old Ecclesiastical Words to be kept, viz. the Word Church not to be translated Congregation etc.”

This means the King James Version is purposely biased against the actual meaning of the original Greek text, especially where it might undercut prevailing, traditional notions of “church.”

Unfortunately, subsequent English translations often lacked the courage to remedy those biases, because doing so would upset people and hurt sales. For example, the Revised Standard Version (RSV), the New American Standard Bible (NASB), the New King James Version (NKJV), and the English Standard Version (ESV) are all rooted in the King James Version … A fact that they all explicitly acknowledge but is not widely known.

I’m not saying those translations should be avoided. I use some of them all the time. But I try to avoid taking them – and any other translation – at face value.

Fortunately, there are excellent resources – like comprehensive scholarly lexicons – which help free us from translation bias. New Testament lexicons are much more than a concordance or dictionary. They provide an in depth analysis of a word’s context and meaning, in its original language, as commonly used in the vernacular of the day during the first century. Good lexicons thus can help us understand the original intent of the New Testament, without translation bias, as actually written in the first century under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Doing so, however, requires an unsettling willingness to step outside of prevailing comfort zones and surrender to Scripture … Based on what it actually meant when written.

TWO DAYS after receiving the application, FDA greenlit the new pancreatic cancer drug daraxonrasib for expanded access. This drug has also been granted a national priority voucher, which means a full application could be reviewed in a matter of weeks instead of 10-12 months.

Which logo design is your favorite from these 4 options that I designed? I am working on a logo + brand identity for a church that wants the main logo mark to have a prominent central cross with a traditional yet modern vibe. Thanks in advance for your vote!

@realsashastone I’m leaning towards Bianco. His experience speaks volumes and he doesn’t have the polished nuance of politicians. I also will not vote for anyone pro-choice no matter how good their sound bites are. Just my thoughts right now but who knows, that could change.🤷‍♀️

My husband was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer in October. He has now had 2 normal brain scans. You can be a deplorable person. I personally having our lives turned upside down and now being given a chance at life will continue to fight for others. I hope you are never in the situation of a death sentence. The first brain scan is before, the second after. Jesus is Lord.

@HollensbeAmanda Not good news sadly. Recurrence and surgery suggested. Praying we get into a trial. Your story has given us hope that the Lord Jesus is fully aware and working even when we can’t see it❤️

Borrowed from Brian Romero on Facebook: If you just got a bad report from the doctor, this is for you. If you heard words that shook you, if fear tried to rush in, if your mind started going to the worst-case scenario, you are not alone. That moment is real. But through the finished work of Jesus Christ, that report is not the final word over your life. God still has the final say. It is normal for your mind to react. To think about what it means, what could happen, and how things might change. But even in that moment, there is a deeper truth that does not move. “Let God be true though every one were a liar” (Romans 3:4). What God says about you stands above every report, every opinion, and every diagnosis. A doctor’s report can tell you what is happening in your body, but it cannot tell you what God has already finished for you. Jesus did not go to the cross partially. He went completely. “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4). That means what you are facing is not something you are carrying alone. Jesus has already stepped into it. Fear will try to take over quickly. It will try to convince you that this is the end or that things are out of control. But your life has never been in the hands of a report. It has always been in the hands of God. “In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind” (Job 12:10). Your life is still held by Him. The finished work of Jesus means your peace is not based on what you just heard. It is based on who He is for you. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3). Fear may try to show up, but it does not have to take over. You can trust Him right in the middle of it. Even if the situation feels serious, God is not limited by it. Nothing is too hard for Him. “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). What feels impossible to you is not impossible for Him. This does not mean you ignore what the doctor said. It means you do not let it define your outcome. You can listen, take steps, and still trust God at the same time. Your hope is not in what you heard. Your hope is in who Jesus is. The cross did not just deal with your future. It speaks into your life right now. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13). That means what tries to come against your life does not have the final authority. Jesus already took your place. Even in this moment, God is not distant from you. He is near. He is present. He is with you. “The Lord is near to all who call on him” (Psalm 145:18). You are not walking through this alone. Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, that report is not the end of your story. God has the final word. And His word over your life is not fear, not defeat, but life, hope, and restoration.

Talking to a friend on here about his 24th anniversary and it got me thinking how rare staying committed to a single person for life really is. Who here can say they have been married to the same person for over 20 years? Cause that is impressive and something to be proud of!

How are we supposed to dispose of medication? Putting it in the garbage seems like a bad idea as it could get into the water system etc. My @cvspharmacy won’t accept them. So I have an entire nightstand drawers filled with unused Rx’s. Shouldn’t there just be a dropbox at every pharmacy counter?
