BIG mega flood problems in the Lake Lure, NC area with reports of dam breaks there and also in the Newport, TN area. Cellular data for the region is pretty much non-existent, with trees down blocking rescue workers. I still cannot get a hold of my mom

@dowdy_nancy A3."To Kill A Mockingbird" taught many lessons learned in a fictional story that mirrored a time in history when all men weren't considered equal. It allowed them to see that through the eyes of a little girl, an attorney, and an innocent man who was wrongly convicted. #myAEA

Q3. Through books, we learn about the past and are exposed to new perspectives and ideas. Reading connects us to people and characters we will may never meet.. we share their joys/sorrows and world. Share a book that you have taught in your classroom and why you chose it. #myaea

Q5. One common trait for student/person with ADHD is organization. What is a strategy that you can share to assist with organization?

@dtrmnd2mkchnge Q4. One thing i have posted in my classroom and outside my door is a flyer that shares “25 Things to Love About ADHD”. It lists ways that our symptoms can be channeled positively 💕 #myAEA

Q4. ADHD Awareness month is used as a time to advocate for those who have ADHD. What are some ways that one may advocate for ADHD?

@dtrmnd2mkchnge A3. Three strategies I use with my students are: let them be creative; allow movement ; & let them know that I have ADHD too. That last strategy allows for meaningful conversations. #myAEA

Q3. What are three strategies that you use with ADHD students?

@dtrmnd2mkchnge What we put in our bodies can impact so many areas ….sugary food/ high starches can play a big factor… as does other things #myAEA

Q2. ADHD is something that cannot be cured, but it can be treated and one’s diet is imperative. How do you believe that diet has a direct correlation with ADHD?

@AEA_KatieS @dtrmnd2mkchnge My son has a red food dye allergy which made him bounce off the walls so to speak. We had to purchase clear Tylenol, Benadryl, and avoid many things.

@dtrmnd2mkchnge Q2 - I know from experience that red dye in foods can greatly affect children with ADHD. I had a student that could not eat anything with red dye because it greatly aggravated his ADHD symptoms. #myAEA
