Freedom High partnered with the Freedom Flag Foundation to strengthen 9/11 remembrance. 🇺🇸 The school received a Freedom Flag & a steel artifact from Tower 1, both displayed at its annual 9/11 ceremony.

AHS is proudly displaying the Freedom Flag. This traveling exhibit includes the Freedom Flag, which memorializes the victims of September 11, 2001, and a steel artifact from floors 92-95 of Tower I. Come and visit the AHS Library this month to learn more about the Freedom Flag.

For the last 23 years, FDNY members begin the St. Patrick’s Day Parade by handing out 343 flags, in honor of each member who died on September 11.

Long Island native Lee Fehling lived in Wantagh with his wife, Danielle. They had a four-year-old daughter and were expecting their second child. Fehling played the bagpipes in a band and was also skilled at the piano, accordion, saxophone, and clarinet. A firefighter at FDNY’s Engine Company 235, on 9/11, Firefighter Fehling was seen heading toward the South Tower. He was 28 years old. Today we placed a white rose at his name on the #911Memorial to mark his 52nd birthday. #NeverForget911

"The Freedom Flag Foundation" gifted Willoughby Middle School a 9/11 Freedom Flag which was raised on the school's flagpole during student-led ceremonies on September 11. The Freedom Flag will be respectfully housed in the school's Veterans' Showcase after September.
