NEWS: Next Fri, Sept 6th, Unseen Nairobi hosts the premiere of my short film, "Transaction". It is the 2nd of four fantastically feminist films I wrote in 2018 based on a short story from 2014. This is a project 10 years in the making. Here's the launch week programme: THREAD

Nearly a year later and I'm 1 film down w/ 3 more to go. Each script explores a different genre and feminist ideal. "Transaction" - Drama - Sexual agency. "Binaries" - Sci-Fi - Subverting gender socialization. "Love Bite" - Horror - Consent #FourFantasticallyFeministFilms

Interesting etymology on the word 'ushago'. Kenyan: Can I go visit my family? Mzungu: You shall go. You shall go -> Youshallgo -> Ushago.

Okay nmeambiwa that the etymology is wrong, and that the origin of the word is 'gichagi'. I cede. Anyway, this is the book (Down River Road), and this is the particular story (by Carey Baraka). A description of Nairobi from the perspective of a night-walker. I love it!
