Iron Will had a rough night, and they had to up his oxygen levels again. The weaning process began anew, so a couple more days in the hospital. But there are so many opportunities for grace and for each of us to pursue meaningful connection with the wee little man! Visits and lots of FaceTime. Which remind me of how wonderfully bonded Iron Will is with his siblings. The way he lights up… Oh, and he kept asking for Bear Head so someone had to take the hit and play the part. And yes, I’m waiting for the “You should wear that all the time, Daub!” replies… #IronWill #DownSyndrome #TeamIronWill
When exhaustion overtakes distraction… After ending up in the hospital in the middle of the night with three different viruses ravaging his little body, a non-stop nose bleed from nasal suction irritation, a diminished lung and the associated labored breathing. No ER visit or hospital stay is truly enjoyable, but this one has been a little rougher for Iron Will. And us. Because we can’t ease his sadness and struggle. He’s fighting thru it - we just have to get him to a place where he doesn’t require so much assistance to breathe. Scanning my feed throughout the night reminds me that adversity, sickness and sadness enter all of our lives. So, if you are able and inclined, join me this morning in separating ourselves from the kinetic nature of a broken, chaotic world and offering up prayers for Iron Will and everyone facing challenges that require answers, solutions or acceptance more profound than anything our mortal minds can generate. Because prayer IS action - the best kind of endeavor. An exercise in humility, focus, freewill and trust that is unencumbered by the limitations of proximity or physical presence or human capability. Never let a world that doesn’t know up from down tell you otherwise. #TeamIronWill #DownSyndrome #IronWill
