Amb Huckabee is correct. This was a mistake by the Israeli police. The security concerns are real, but they should not have prevented the Patriarch from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to conduct the Palm Sunday blessing. I trust this mistake will be corrected quickly.
Ambassador Mike Huckabee@GovMikeHuckabee

My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday: While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world.  Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less.  The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction.  Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less.  For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities.

Thy bleeding sacrifice, oh Christ How brutal yet how splendid That tragic act of love has paid The price my sin demanded From Eden's wilted promises To my heart's dark affections Thy bleeding sacrifice, oh Christ Has purchased my redemption Christ has died Christ is risen Hallelujah, Christ will come again!

Fun Fact: The Bible very explicitly refers to the church as Israel…repeatedly. Written to the Church of Galatia, full of Gentile believers, Paul writes, “And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.” But it’s “rule” in question that’s the real kick in the nuts to the Judaizer. The rule, from the verses prior, is that neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters, but only the new creation in Christ. Circumcision, the rite to determine Jewishness? Paul says it doesn’t matter and then calls the Gentiles to whom He speaks “Israel of God,” as in, the Israel to God. WOW. Seems you’re either caught in a fib or a fantastic level of scriptural ignorance. But we can go on. Speaking of circumcision, the rite to denote Jewishness, the rite that *made* Jewishness, Paul says to Gentiles in Philippi, “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit…” Peter, writing to his church with more than a few gentiles therein (1 Peter 1:14-18 clarifies this), refers to them by three titles used in the Old Testament as a reference to Israel. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” (1 Peter 2:9). But not only are believing Gentiles referred to with titles reserved for Israel, Jews in the flesh are denied the titles reserved for Israel in their unbelief. Paul writes, “He is not a Jew, which is one outwardly… but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly…” (Romans 2:28-29). Surely Paul isn’t saying God strips the Jew off of somebody for not believing in Jesus, right? Surely you’re wrong, because Paul writes, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel.” Then who the heck is Israel? Israel, or the Sons of Abraham, are believers in Christ. Paul says, “They which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham” (Galatians 3:7). His point is that in the spiritual sense, those who believe are Jews. Those who don’t aren’t. And so far as ethnicity goes, God no longer shows favoritism based of this. That’s why He said, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:27). He says something similar in Colossians 3:7, “Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision… but Christ is all, and in all.” Ephesians 2:12-16 tells us that by faith, we become Israel, “Aliens from the commonwealth of Israel… But now… made nigh… to make in himself of twain one new man…” Being made one with Israel is also the imagery of the Tree of Abraham in Romans 11 in which unbelieving Jews are broken off from God and REPLACED by believing Gentiles. That’s what “grafted IN THEIR PLACE” means…replaced. That’s what Galatians 3:29 says, “If ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed…” Unbelieving Jews, on the other hand? They’ve been broken off and discarded. They can come back to the tree, and we’ll happily make room, but only if “they do not persist in unbelief.” Every believer in Jesus is one with Zion. Ye are come unto mount Sion… the city of the living God…” (Hebrews 22:22-24). It really couldn’t be clearer: * Unbelieving Jews are not Israel. * Believing Gentiles and believing Jews are Israel. * Unbelieving Jews are cut off from Abraham * Believing Gentiles are grafted to Abraham in their place * The church, consisting of both Jews and Gentiles, are God’s Holy Nation, the Israel of God * All of the above is spiritual, but so far as physical Jewishness goes, God no longer views or judges people by this categorical distinction, and he sees it not at all. There’s a reason why, for 1800 years, no Christian theologian or tradition believed that unbelieving Jews comprised the chosen people of God. And that’s because the Scripture is clear; if you reject Christ, God the Father will reject you (Matthew 10:32-33).

I used to be entirely in the camp that said you should kick your kids out at 18 and force them to live independently and make their own way in the world. I don’t feel that way at all anymore. I want all my kids to live with us until they get married. Even after they’re married, if they want to live on our property, or close by, my wife and I would love that. The important thing is to teach your kids responsibility, which we’re doing. They need to contribute and help around the house, which all of our kids do from a very young age. Provided you aren’t raising ungrateful useless moochers, why kick them out? Why drive them away from your family home? I don’t see the point in it anymore. I actually like my kids and like being around them. Maybe they’ll all end up scattered to the wind. But I’d prefer to keep the family together. Why wouldn’t I?

It really isn’t that difficult; multiple things can be true at once. 1. God sets the borders of nations. 2. God raises up kings and grants them authority. 3. Those kings have a right and obligation to defend their nation. 4. Modern Israel is a nation. 5. It is not the Israel of the Bible. 6. Israel is defined by connection to Abraham’s promises. 7. Abraham had two seeds: flesh and faith. 8. Flesh alone is no longer sufficient to connect a person to Abraham; faith is mandatory. Those without faith are cut off and can only be grafted back in by faith. 9. Those who bless Abraham are blessed. Those who curse Abraham are cursed. 10. The people of faith, the church, constitute true/fulfilled Israel. They alone are connected to Abraham’s promises. 11. The promises made to Israel (not Abraham) are said to have been fulfilled by the time of Joshua 21:43-45. Conclusion: Modern Israel has the right to defend herself. Nations have no religious obligation to support their effort. They do have a religious obligation to bless the church. We can simultaneously acknowledge their right to defend themselves while also refusing the idea that we must help them in some specific way that we wouldn’t help any other secular state.

JUST IN: In an exclusive interview with CBN News, Senator Ted Cruz Says Tucker Carlson is specifically targeting evangelical Christians and believes GOP Politicians need to speak out against his venomous ideology. When asked if that includes Vice President JD Vance who is good friends with Carlson, Cruz replied, “Look, everyone's going to have to decide where they stand. Ronald Reagan in 1964 gave a very famous speech, a time for choosing and I think this is a time for choosing.” Senator Cruz and I spent about 40 minutes in his office today discussing the future of the war in Iran, Israel’s role in the war, the venomous ideology of Tucker Carlson, the heresy of replacement theology, the rise of antisemitism and a warning to the Church about it.  A full report will air on The 700 Club Thursday across America, and you can see the entire interview on our CBN News Youtube page Friday. More here. cbn.com/news/politics/… @CBNNews @700club @tedcruz
