J C Ryle said there are two marks of the true Christian: His inner warfare and his inner peace.

In this protected country in Southeast Asia, the Christian church has suffered war and persecution. For many decades, its most urgent challenge was survival. But today, the need of the church is no longer only physical survival; it is theological clarity—the gospel of Jesus Christ, clearly and boldly proclaimed. Watch the full Update From The Field, "Clarity for the Church in Southeast Asia" on our YouTube channel to see how HeartCry is seeking to clearly and boldly support the proclamation of the gospel in this country.

HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED! Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it... And the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said." - Matthew 28:1-6

Tornado hit the home of one of our church members today. She was home but thankfully the Lord was gracious and no one was hurt.

"Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our peace fell upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But Yahweh has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him." - Isaiah 53:4-6

Justin Taylor and Andreas Kostenberger contend in their book “The Last Days of Jesus” that the most likely historical date for the crucifixion of Jesus was April 3, 33 AD. It’s a debatable point of course, but I find it interesting. If true, Jesus died 1993 years ago today.

My washing machine sings to me. It plays a little jingle when it starts and went it stops. I don’t like it. Laundry is not a light jingle in the day. Give me a flat buzz that shouts, “hey, get over here and do your job!”

@TomBuck Simply questioning whether anyone should marry a former promiscuous woman is a much lesser degree of rejection than actually refusing to marry them. You have a problem with the former but not the latter?

For the record… Someone’s past should always be heavily factored in when deciding to marry someone. Biblical standards always direct who you marry. God can radically change someone who had a sordid past. No one is obligated to marry him/her. No one should be shamed for doing so, if he/she evidences a transformed life and they seek and heed godly counsel to think through the decision biblically and thoroughly.

@covapologetics That’s clearly covered by the words, “not obligated to do so.” There would never be any shame for not doing something you’re not obligated to do.

My original “take” was as simply an observation from my preaching through Joshua and the beautiful story of redemption of Rahab. I stand by every word I said about it. And even when I explained, people refused to listen and lie about what I said. People assigned motives to what I said and added more to it than I did say. I made this post because I wanted something clearly on the record that wasn’t buried in a thread of replies.

This is a reasonable take. You could have just STARTED with this take, it is well reasoned and grounded in scriptural wisdom. However, it seems that many among the pastorate bends over backwards to appease and supplicate to women in nearly all of their messaging. Men don’t want supplication, we want the Truth. You can soften some of the harsher truths if you feel the overwhelming need, but the Truth needs to be the basis.
