There are female journalists on Television in Afghanistan right now, using their skills to inform, educate and entertain the Afghan people. They continued to do their job despite having to put a mask on in order to keep working, provide for their families and serve the people

“Activist” criticizing a female doctor advocating for women’s education because she communicated her message on local tv wearing the required face mask. Attending lavish or high-profile events is easy, but I'm more interested in understanding what she would do if she were actually in the country and how she would avoid complying with #Taliban law.

Slightly perplexed by the messages and comments that folks had no idea how bad the regime was in #Syria. I know much of this is in good faith, but (deep breath) : Syrians, human rights orgs, journalists have been covering this and telling you this - *with much documentation*

A Future Rewritten: How the Taliban’s Vice and Virtue Law Could Reshape Afghanistan. Thank you @USIP for organizing this important event at the #Dohaforum2024. Wonderful moderation, as always, by @bbclysedoucet, a long-time friend of Afghanistan and the Afghan people.

1169 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. 709 days since the Taliban banned women from going to university. The UN says the rules on women in Afghanistan amount to “gender apartheid”. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn

So endorsements “don’t move the needle,” we’re told, which is why some editorial boards say they are sitting these elections out. As an ex-editorial writer, I find that … flimsy reasoning. If you endorse ideas all the time with your editorials, do your job. Even if it’s hard.

Me: I can’t believe I didn’t know that Suge Knight has a prison podcast (Collect Call with Suge Knight 😂) My @NPRWeekend colleagues, immediately: So how would you produce & engineer that? You’d need a producer on the outside #PeakNPR
