The last ever game at Upton Park, one of the best days of my football/coaching career, against one of the biggest clubs in the world and we win 3-2, don’t get any better, then reality set in, that that was it, Upton Park was no more, best & worst night of my life in football.

Four years ago today, we lost the man who shaped Heybridge Swifts into the club we know and love. Mick Gibson wasn’t just part of the furniture, he built the place. From laying bricks to leading the committee, from teenage volunteer to Life President, Mick gave over 65 years of his life to this club. He was the heartbeat of Scraley Road, always stopping to chat, always greeted like family by everyone who passed him. He turned a carrot field into a football ground and helped build a team. The stand that bears his name is a permanent reminder of a man whose impact can never be fully measured. His humour, his humility, and his unwavering love for Heybridge Swifts will never be forgotten. Mick was, and always will be, the face of our club. Forever missed. Forever Mr Swifts. 🖤🤍 #Swifts
