It's really funny that Jacobin discovered Hayek in 2026, and didn't actually bother engaging with Stiglitz (1994) "Whither Socialism," which was a very smart piece that was a critique of Hayek's notion of information aggregation by markets, as well as central planning. But the funniest thing is that this happened in the age of gen-AI, whose proponents are promising us automated abundance.

And all of these economists have been proven wrong by the inexorable progress of time. The Chicago School of Economics has proven its worth again and again by being empirically correct. All of this wordcelling, yet nothing of value to add.

La PGU no tiene sustentabilidad fiscal. No la puedo considerar una buena política pública. El manejo del Covid no fue tan bueno. Hubo una serie de equivocaciones incluyendo una apertura de fronteras apresurada. ¿Las vacunas? Eso fue lo mejor de su gobierno.

@AlvaroPielago Lo dicho: hay que informarse antes de intentar dar lecciones. Ideología puede tener todo el mundo, pero hay que dejarla a un lado cuando uno trabaja en ciencia.

Me hace mucha gracia que algunos propagandistas insistan en que Economía consiste en la lucha entre corrientes “liberal”, “keynesiana”, “marxista”, etc. Se creen muy inteligentes señalando estos muñecos de paja y cualquiera de los que hemos estudiado Economía y no llevamos 20 años sin leer un paper vemos que no saben lo que dicen.

AI and economics research To date, I've seen a lot more on how AI can help revolutionize economics research than I've seen how concretely AI made new research happen in economics. In my own experience, I've had Claude Code markedly increase my productivity by cutting down on coding time. But it has failed to give me a single new economic insight. (I've tried.)
