A pedophile running the nation’s largest law-enforcement agency, a criminal in the White House, South Dakota’s governor running a border agency — I’m just going to assume that the absolutely least qualified person will be chosen for every position in this administration.

The far right wants us to feel powerless. Extremists are counting on apathy, cynicism, & heartbreak to be their rocket fuel. They are counting on us to point fingers at each other & lose trust in our ability to make change. I absolutely refuse to give them the satisfaction.

3,716,106 deportation cases are pending in immigration courts across the country. About a third of them (and maybe many more) are asylum cases, where the individual is seeking humanitarian protection. As Attorney General, Matt Gaetz's decisions could shape their case outcomes.

The Biden administration massively expanded the electronic monitoring of immigrants, restricted access to asylum, left 287(g) in place, and increased deportations. So yes, the Trump administration does have “what they need” to carry out mass deportations.

I understand why people are leaving, but I can't stop thinking that US-based academics relocating to that more civil forum will only further isolate the university from the rest of US society and the rest of the world. As a public anthropologist, I am determined to stay.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.

This happened to us. I opened the door & said "what are you doing??" The teen ran away so his friends & I just kind of looked at each other confused. To his credit, he came back, apologized, & returned the candy. I explained to him how video doorbells worked. Ahh, teenagers😂

First time watching the NYC marathon to support a family member. I got tired just watching them! Kudos to everyone who runs that many miles *willingly* and w/o zombies behind them. Some of my favorite signs (including ours).

It feels like US academia, esp. in the social sciences and humanities, but really in all fields of higher ed, seem to have no sense of what a catastrophe could be starting in about a week

My twins just started solids and I’m already so tired of lying to them about how they’re doing a “good job!”. They are terrible at it. The worst. Like who even raised them????
