I plan to delete my account soon. I am now dr2chase at ohai.social, you should look for me there, and you should also migrate there yourself.

"size matters" -- what would be physically impossible in a car, is EASY for something as small as a motorcycle or bicycle. Also today-I-learned, Ethiopia banned import of fossil-fueled cars.

The Algorithm found this interesting news video for me about e-motorbikes in Kenya, and e-stuff in Africa in general. youtube.com/watch?v=OBoNsd… They didn't mention it, but in the video you can see that they have a battery charge/change service for e-motos. This is one case where

I encourage all the other rats to abandon this stinking ship and use some other social media. If Mastodon is not for you, perhaps Bluesky; it picked up a lot of people earlier this month (for some reason), if you looked earlier and thought "nah", look again.

Some of you may be considering sitting this election out, or voting for a third-party candidate, because you strongly disagree with Kamala Harris about Gaza. This thread is for you 🧵

@DrawsMiguel that check comes from state variables in the function containing the loop, so the iterator cannot block it. I recall (maybe correctly) that the Bad Iterator panic was regarded as "not the loop body" and thus does not trigger the swallowed-panic panic. Performance also matters.

@DrawsMiguel the inner loop panic is basically "if the loop body panics, then a panic must appear in the function containing the loop". It's not picky about panic identity, but the non-intuitive "this code should have panicked but I cannot see it" is not allowed to happen. /

@DrawsMiguel Given that you had to defer-recover to stop it from panicking at you, I think the answer is obvious. Parallel for loops won't work and are explicitly not supposed to work.

@DrawsMiguel I think also if we promoted the iterator misuse panic into a "loop body panic", thus inflicting it on anyone using the iterator, that it your little trick would work less well. And/or the return path could check the state variable, and *it* would throw().

It occurred to me that there are actually young men who might be voting for Trump. I have one simple question for them: Do you like sex with women? Because one way to get less of that, is to make it harder for women to avoid unwanted pregnancies. Also, paternity tests, a thing.
