Bombshell Complaint Alleges FDNY Shooting Cover-Up and Corruption🚨
In a six-page complaint sent to the New York City Department of Investigation on January 20, 2026, NY-based attorney Pete Gleason alleges systemic corruption, misconduct and cover-ups within the FDNY, centering on a July 14, 2024 incident in which retired FDNY Fire Marshal Craig Gundersen allegedly discharged a firearm in a Staten Island public park.
Gleason claims the incident prompted an improper response by FDNY leadership and led to a Rescue 5 diver being seriously injured under circumstances he says were never fully investigated or explained. The letter accuses senior officials (including Chief Fire Marshal Daniel Flynn and former Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh) of suppressing information, failing to conduct required internal investigations and improperly labeling the matter “unfounded,” describing those actions as part of a bigger pattern of misconduct.
Gleason further alleges Kavanagh had repeated accountability failures, citing the 2018 death of firefighter Michael Davidson during a film-set fire (Edward Norton's Harlem 'Motherless Brooklyn' set) and a 2022 Marine Division boating crash that killed a tourist, which he claims were both mishandled.
The complaint also raises conflict-of-interest concerns involving former FDNY Deputy Commissioner Jon Paul Augier, alleging his relationship with Kavanagh and later employment at Accenture coincided with a $39 million no-bid FDNY contract. Gleason wants a full DOI investigation and whistleblower protections. Gleason may be notable to some for representing Anna Gristina in 2012, the "soccer mom" madame who served 6-months in jail for running a high-end prostitution operation catering to wealthy clients in New York City.

Video shows the moment two boys were shot on Saturday night while having dinner at a McDonald's in Allerton, Bronx.
The surveillance footage shows the 12-year-old and 13-year-old sitting at a table to eat when a man in a mask walks up, pulls out a gun and opens fire, before fleeing the scene.

38-year-old Kevin Young faces first degree manslaughter charges, for the stabbing death of a 55-year-old man.
The victim was found with stab wounds to his torso, inside an apartment building at 255 West 43rd Street, just before 1 a.m. this morning.
The building where the man was found is used for supportive housing.
Residents who live there say there have been multiple stabbings and deaths in the past.

In conversations with Black African migrants, they expressed that Hispanic migrants are receiving better treatment than them. They find it unfair that they are not permitted to work while Hispanic migrants can, and they also feel that Hispanic migrants receive better conditions in shelters. In most shelters, the two groups tend to stay among their own. Several violent incidents have already occurred between these groups, including stabbings, gang fights, and even murders. Black African migrants frequently tell me they just want to work and contribute to society. Some aspire to become police officers or join the military, but they are unable to work legally. When asked why they think they are being treated differently, they attribute it to their skin color. I also spoke with NYPD officers about their encounters with Black migrants. They reported few serious issues, noting that while some Black migrants have been caught selling counterfeit products, they have generally been respectful to the police. In my personal dealings with Black African migrants, they have always been respectful and I have rarely seen problems, aside from occasional fights between the groups. They consistently express their desire to work. When asked if they had a message for President Joe Biden, Black African migrants reiterated that they just want to work. Given the ongoing tensions between these groups, I fear we may soon see a major riot that could result in more deaths.
