The Role of Prostate-specific Membrane Antigen Positron Emission Tomography for Assessment of Local Recurrence and Distant Metastases in Patients with Biochemical Recurrence of Prostate Cancer After Definitive Treatment sciencedirect.com/science/articl… systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the diagnostic performance of PSMA PET imaging in detecting local or metastatic disease in 8,119 #ProstateCancer patients experiencing biochemical recurrence (BCR) following radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy. The analysis revealed that PSMA PET positivity rates varied significantly based on prior treatment type, PSA levels, and lesion location, with higher detection rates seen after radiation therapy (92%) compared to prostatectomy (60%). Positivity increased with rising PSA levels, reaching over 90% at PSA >2 ng/ml🧪. Detection was most common in pelvic nodes and local recurrence, while visceral metastases were rare.
