INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION PRESS STATEMENT INEC CHAIRMAN HAS NO ACCOUNT ON X, DISREGARD PARTISAN FABRICATIONS The attention of the Office of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been drawn to a malicious and coordinated campaign of calumny circulating on social media. The false claim alleges that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has, in the past, endorsed a partisan post on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The Commission wishes to state categorically that this allegation is entirely baseless, a total fabrication, and a figment of the imagination of its purveyors. For the avoidance of doubt, the INEC Chairman does not own or operate any personal account on X. He has at no time engaged in partisan commentary, nor has he ever associated himself with any political leaning or activity in his private or public capacity. This contrived X post is a desperate attempt to impugn the integrity and neutrality of the Chairman at a critical period when the Commission is focused on significant electoral reforms and preparations for upcoming polls. It is a needless distraction designed to stir public distrust in the electoral umpire. Beyond this partisan mischief, the Commission is aware that cybercriminals have been on the prowl, utilising fake social media accounts in the Chairman’s name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. We wish to place it on record that several of such fraudulent accounts had been identified and reported to security agencies in the past. This latest fabrication is merely a continuation of a criminal pattern aimed at exploiting the Commission’s profile for illicit gains. The Commission will not fold its arms while the character of its leadership is being assassinated by digital imposters and mischief-makers. We wish to notify the public that we are working in close collaboration with relevant security agencies and cyber-intelligence units to track and identify the individuals or groups behind this identity theft and misinformation. Let it be clearly understood that the Commission will ensure that these imposters face the full wrath of the law. Identity theft and the dissemination of deepfake or forged social media interactions are criminal offenses under the Cybercrimes Act. Those responsible for this mischief will be tracked and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who believe the digital space is a safe haven for criminality. The general public is hereby urged to disregard this falsehood in its entirety. We will continue to disseminate official information regarding the Commission and the Chairman’s activities only through our verified institutional channels and formal press statements. The Commission remains undeterred and fully committed to its mandate of delivering free, fair, and credible elections for all Nigerians. Back in 2022, I converted one of my burner accounts to an account where I only followed APC folks so that whenever there was an agenda on the TL that I couldn't decipher, I'd just enter that account and everything, including the source, would make sense to me.
The problem is that when I enter that account now, I'm confronted with stupidity after stupidity on my TL. I follow so many of them, I don't know where to start unfollowing from 😭😭😭

It is high time we stopped dismissing the cries of House Officers as "entitlement." This is about survival and the basic professional respect due to the people actually keeping our wards running.
When a House Officer in a federal center doesn’t see their February salary until late March, or when those in military hospitals are owed 4–6 months of arrears while earning less than 200k, the frustration isn’t "na wa for HOs." It is a cry for help from doctors who are often one delayed paycheck away from a complete breakdown.
The workload is backbreaking. House Officers are the ones resuming before 7 AM and closing after 7 PM, even when they aren't officially on call. They give the medications, run the labs, collect the samples, and stand through endless surgeries. By the time salary increments are finally "implemented," many have already finished their house job without ever seeing a kobo of the raise they worked for.
Also, the idea that House Officers don't contribute to the union isn't true. In many centers, House Officers pay ARD dues just like everyone else. Discarding their plight because of a "charity" mindset is a disservice to those who are financially supporting the union while struggling to feed themselves.
The physical toll is the most painful part. Whenever you hear of a doctor being assaulted, it is almost always a House Officer. We saw it in OOU with the gang-up on one doctor, and in UNIPORT where a House Officer was beaten alongside her father. Even as the admin of this forum, I personally had my scrubs torn during an assault while I was a House Officer. When the people doing the most work are also the most vulnerable and the least paid, their claims of neglect are backed by literal scars.
If House Officers say ARD isn't doing enough, the response shouldn't be a defensive post on the timeline. Leadership needs to call an open meeting - not just with "forum leaders" who might be out of touch, but with the House Officers in the trenches who aren't even in the official group chats. You cannot lead people you don't listen to. The interests of House Officers shouldn't just be in God's hands; they should be at the very top of the NARD demand list.

What baffles me with House Officers is this:- -We have gotten PAT to cover house officers -We have gotten accoutrement for House officers -We worked diligently with MDCN and NMA to get many months arrears for over 50 house officers -We are working to get salary payment for house officers at regular intervals Then:- -Every month, I hear how many house officers have left many ARD Chapters claiming neglect from ARD and NARD -No house officer pays NARD dues claiming they aren’t members of NARD (NOTE: we have never asked house officers or MDCN to pay any capitation and I will not ask for it even till I leave office Despite that:- -This NARD is working with NMA and MDCN to ensure everything a house officer is entitled to, they get YET:- EVERYTIME I COME TO MY TIMELINE, ITS POSTS LIKE THESE I SEE NA WA FOR HOs OH OR IS THIS WHY AFTER THE ARREARS WERE PAID THEY SAID NARD DID NOT GET IT? Well House officers know where to find me when they need anything…
