Yesterday participated in a fireside chat with Sumit Chaturvedi at Hansraj College’s Innovation Manthan 2026 on India's Innovation Economy: Opportunities, Gaps, and the Road Ahead.
My mother got this sewing machine as part of her dowry.
She told me that in her time, it was almost compulsory for girls to learn stitching before marriage, and many parents would give a sewing machine as a wedding gift.
But today, I rarely see girls learning stitching just for marriage. This shows how time changes and society evolves.
What other changes have you observed in marriages over time?
Most people get bored of eating the same food every day. I don’t.
Because I’m not eating randomly. I’m eating with a purpose.
When you’ve actually put in the work planned your meals, trained hard, stayed consistent you don’t feel like throwing it away for every random craving that shows up. You respect the process a little…..
If I am at home, I’ll have my chai with 2 biscuits. Once in a while, I eat my favourite halwa or a sweet I really enjoy.
The difference? It’s occasional, not emotional.
What you do most days of the year matters way more than what you do once in a while.
Eat well consistently, and you won’t have to avoid your favourite foods on special occasions. You’ll just enjoy them guilt free without losing control.
That’s the balance people keep overcomplicating.
