Update on the bicycle; I made the order on Saturday and paid him on Monday at 8am and that’s when he was supposed to deliver it! By yesterday evening him and his boda guy were not picking my calls! He promised to send it by today at 8;30am, he didn’t pick my calls until I made that video! So yeah! Thank you all for fighting for my money!

@thelady_O Both parents are looking at the same coin from two different sides/angles. I’d suggest they instead have a genuine talk with their child and make her understand that both their perspectives are valid. Hope they go thru that phase, instead of recruiting support!

My mom got a call from my aunt this morning complaining about her husband and daughter. From the way she sounded on the phone, I thought something serious had happened. So later in the evening, my mom decided to visit her and find out what was going on. I went along with her. When we got there, I discovered the whole issue was about my 14-year-old cousin. According to my aunt, the girl can't do anything in the kitchen. Now before anyone says she's lazy, she's actually not. In fact, she's one of the smartest children I know. She's always at the top of her class and has won several academic competitions. The problem is that anytime she's asked to do anything in the kitchen, she somehow has a reason not to. If she's called to wash plates, she's doing homework. If she's asked to help with cooking, she's studying for a test. If there's any kitchen chore to be done, she's suddenly preparing for a competition or working on a school project. According to my aunt, books have become her daughter's escape route whenever kitchen work comes up. The bigger problem is her husband. Instead of supporting her, he's completely on the girl's side. Anytime she complains, he tells her to leave the child alone. According to him, not every girl has to be interested in cooking or kitchen chores. He believes their daughter should focus on what she's naturally good at. Then there's the funny part. The girl's younger brother, who is just 11, is the complete opposite. Apparently, he's always the one volunteering to help in the kitchen. He enjoys washing things, helping with food preparation and hanging around while his mother cooks. My aunt said there are times she's the one chasing him out of the kitchen because he's always there. She said what frustrates her is that the interest she wishes her daughter had is the one her son naturally has. Her husband still doesn't see any problem with it. He says as long as the girl is responsible, respectful and doing well in school, forcing her into the kitchen won't achieve anything. My aunt disagrees. She said she's not trying to turn her daughter into a housemaid. She just wants her to learn basic life skills and contribute around the house. Her biggest fear is what happens in the future. According to her, if her daughter grows up, gets married and can't handle basic things in the kitchen, people won't blame her father. They'll blame her. In her words: "Everybody will say I didn't train my daughter properly." The husband thinks she's worrying about a problem that doesn't even exist yet. My aunt thinks he's setting their daughter up for problems later in life. Who do you think has a point?

So many things are going on in this country, leave 1998 cars. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) in new cars wouldn’t let you fall into such.

@NiwaRodgers What we don’t realise is for Dr., this is his own contribution to Uganda. He won’t stop doing whatever he is doing untill there’s change in Uganda. For a soldier, living in Luzira is way better. Only his health and age will fail him.

Dr. Kizza Besigye is incredibly strong and resilient. Very few people could endure what he has gone through—if any.

@MahnoorAi12 @Heykazitarek This my friend isn’t easy. I find myself walking into this kind of life. Living over 500km away from family and coming over to them a week each month. What is really more important? Money or family? Am still figuring out what more important to me.

My husband quit his job and stayed home for 3 months. It wasn't like he was lounging around doing nothing—he was cooking, cleaning, and taking our daughter to daycare. My mom calls every week: "When's he going to get a job?" And his mom says: "Men have to work." And my friend says: "Aren't you worried he'll get used to sitting around?" And I'm silent. Because during these three months, our daughter said "dada" for the first time before she ever said "cartoon." And for the first time in 7 years, he slept without sleeping pills. Everyone around me sees a man without a job. And I see a family, for the first time, sitting together and truly living..

@GodNayebare Those banks are just outrageous! But also the car dealers themselves can’t give you a longer repayment period and that’s really why people end up at the mercy of the banks.

If you use mirco-finance institutions like Watu,MOGO, platinums etc. But many car dealers(bonds) actually offer good plans that do not double the cost of cars. They add an extra UGX2-5m Forexample if car is 40M, you'll pay 43-45M and down payment is always atleast 50%. I have helped some clients here. In 2024 got a Toyota sienta 2009 at 26M(instead of 23M), down payment was 14M In 2025, I got a Toyota noah Si 2010 at 43m(Instead of 40M) with down payment of 23M.

This is how most car financing works in Uganda(Outside of the banks) You take a car financing facility of UGX40m, with a UGX15m down payment (40%). For a 24 month facility, your monthly repayments will be approximately UGX2.5m. That means in total you pay over UGX70m! 🤯🤯🤯

BRUCE KABAASA BARABA. Bruce is the Member of Parliament representing Rubanda West County. During our days @Makerere as students, Hon. @BruceKabaasa was the Chairperson of the Makerere University Appointments Board. At that time Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa was a Member of the University Council. Bruce and his board oversaw the Appointment of Prof. @ProfNawangwe as the University Vice Chancellor and the subsequent changes that happened at the University. At the floor of Parliament yesterday, Bruce used his experience & expertise as an Education Reformist to make these proposals to the Government Scholarships scheme; 1. He proposed that out of the 100% scholarships given by Government, 75% should be District quota system and 25% for National Merit. As it is today, 75% is given to National Merit and 25% to the district. This will help the children of the poor who study from their districts to benefit from the Scheme. 2. He proposes that 50% of the 75% that is given to the District Quota system should be for Science students. As it is today, Bruce says 90% of the Government Scholarships are Arts Students. This is to incentivize Science subjects to students. 3. He further disagrees with the position of Government that the Students Loans Scheme is another form of sponsorship yet the students will pay the loan after studies. This is the conversation that we need to engage in as a Country. Thank you Hon. @BruceKabaasa

Caller (Michael): My father passed a few months ago. Jade Warshaw: Oh, so sorry. Caller: Thank you. And the thing is, he left everything to me. His house, his investments, his business. Um, he he didn't give anything to my sisters, who who are estranged and with our mother ever since my parents divorced. And, my sisters are like, they have asked me to help pay their student loans because my father left them with nothing. Jade Warshaw: How much was it? Caller: Uh... combined, I believe, they went to both undergrad and grad, so combined it's about $300,000. Jade Warshaw: No, how much was the Yes, thank you for telling me that, but how much was the inheritance? Caller: Um, it's it's a couple million. It's basically his house, his investments, and his business. Jade Warshaw: When you say "a couple million," is that like 2 million, or is that like 6 million? Caller: Um, it's in the eight figures. George Kamel: Okay. So we're talking 10 million plus. Caller: Yes. George Kamel: Okay. Jade Warshaw: Wow, okay. George Kamel: So, he purposefully did not leave any money to your sisters because he had no relationship with them, and that was his call to make. Jade Warshaw: Are they misbehaviors? Caller: No, he basically cut them off because they sided with our mother during their divorce. George Kamel: Okay, so they were team mom, you were team dad, and he goes, "Hey, I'm going to leave it all to my son who's been loyal to me." Caller: Yes. George Kamel: Okay. And now they're resentful because they feel like they deserve a portion of this money? Caller: It seems like it, yes. George Kamel: Okay. I think this is more relational/emotional than it is financial. You could write them a check and pay off the loans, but I don't know that you agree with the principle behind it, or that that would have been your father's heart. Jade Warshaw: But, yeah, what do you want to do? what's your heart leaning towards?
