“Discovery of a new disease” in Nature immunology. This was one of my patients whom I have following the story for the past 13 years. He initially presented with osteonecrosis of the talus. As the story evolved, he revealed he had recurrent parotidomegaly with hepatomegaly

@IAksentijevichP Thanks to the whole team in NIH and collaborating centres beyond including @IAksentijevichP @HirotsuguOda215. Human collaboration has reached levels unthinkable a few years ago and it is helping to solve a lot of current medical problems.

@IAksentijevichP led to opening of a new window of opportunity. Phenotype led to genotype with translational research in between. "Lo and behold", a new disease was discovered with treatment being readily available in the form of anti TNF. This has led to a remarkable improvement in his symptoms
