@DrTLovesBooks @sylvianursebc Also look for a local company that does warehouse and other types of data management stuff. For me it is l-tron.com they are amazing to work with. We visited their office for a barcode scanner petting zoo. Go to the brands like Zebra and Honeywell and look for vendor

@sylvianursebc Interesting... Thanks! These are the kinds of labels I'd like to print. I'll have to dig some and see what printers these go with. Thanks very much!

Librarians: I'm thinking of purchasing a barcode printer that will print polyester labels to do a ton of barcoding. Anyone have one they would (or definitely would NOT) recommend?

@DrTLovesBooks @sylvianursebc I agree. It is about the labels more than the printers. Zebra makes the printers also. Just don’t cheap out. Expect to spend a few hundred on a printer that can handle those labels and volume.

@DrTLovesBooks If it is the cable monopoly, have her call. They don’t tell you about upgrades. I went from 30Mb to 300Mb for same price after calling.

None of my family are on Twitter, so: ARGH! How can my sister's wifi be so slow??? They work from home! This is insanity! Just spent 2 mins opening Gmail and attaching a file! C'mon! 😂 😂 😂

90% of attempts to ban books as reported to the Office of Intellectual Freedom included a list of multiple titles. 40% of the attacks against our right to read targeted over 100 titles in a single challenge. Here's an idea. Read what you want, and I will read what I want.

Libraries don’t have an agenda, we have resources for everyone. And we are always happy to share via our existing online catalogs and helpful library websites. This is why HR5, an unfunded mandate, isn’t needed. Encouraging @RepTenney to help protect the right to read!

The MPAA spends $63M a year with 155 staff and a CEO making $3M to rate a few thousand movies. Tell me again how some external agency is going to rate the more than 1,000,000 new book titles published each year in this country?

Struggling to understand why a future of libraries conversation once again has devolved into a “print good ebook bad” discussion.

So great to hear ALA acknowledge that “It’s been hard” and we need to engage in self care. Check out one way to send some care and love on wethelibrarians.org

She goes on to talk about the need to have more students become authors. Yes.

@DrTLovesBooks This is why the school librarian and teacher indemnification of the Right to Read bill introduced last year is so critical as a conversation point even if actual passage isn’t in the cards.

😲😲😲 This language is just BONKERS. It literally says that if you don't want to chance a FELONY CHARGE (which basically disqualifies you from ever working in ed again), you'll want to avoid ANY material that someone MIGHT find "shameful".
Florida Freedom to Read Project@FLFreedomRead

Since @SenMannyDiazJr is screaming “fake news,” here is the actual reason why districts/teachers reacted this way. The script below is from the Library Media Training. This is the FLDOE training on the subject. And there aren’t “unintended consequences” from this training.

@aasl Great first step would be checking out the school library advocacy ebook created as part of the Libraries.Today National Leadership Grant made possible in part through funding from IMLS. Tell the story of what we do so stakeholders know what to support.
