Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour staff almost “pass out” and cry as they receive bonuses. The 36-year-old megastar was reported by People to have generously given everyone involved in her record-breaking jaunt a share of $197 million to thank them for their par… Music-News.com

@implausibleblog It is the fair and correct thing to do. They did the whole tour with barely any known hiccups, production was always top tier, and few/if any cancelled dates + no controversies from the whole team. They earned the slippage budget as bonuses which she paid them happily.

Taylor Swift's Eras tour generated $2 billion She gave her staff a total of $197 million in bonuses From dancers with $750,000 cheques That's 5x top dancers annual salary To truck drivers with $100,000 cheques That's equivalent to an annual salary This is leadership, giving back 👏

Sometimes respect shows up in small taps on a screen. SZA liking a video praising Taylor Swift’s reported $197M in bonuses for her Eras Tour crew feels like one artist recognizing how care travels just as far as talent.

Teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work students may be eligible to receive $319.50 per week while on placements. But experts @drdgrantsmith and Paula McDonald from @usceduau and @QUT say more help is needed. #Echobox=1714974889-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theconversation.com/what-does-the-…

@BarbaraPocock It is almost like these conflicts could have been avoided by having an appropriately sized public service that is empowered to provide informed, frank and fearless advice rather than gutting the sector and outsourcing to consultants. Who’d have thought?

We need a robust public sector that is not caught in conflicts of interest. “There is a clear conflict of interest between advising government on health impacts of climate change & the public interest, while concurrently advising the fossil fuel industry” theguardian.com/business/2023/…

This funding will, for the first time, see recurrent funding for the vital services Lifeline provides, in the QLD Budget. A fantastic example of progressive policy research resulting in tangible outcomes for the broader community.

@BeachPhilosophy @CasualsMonash Horryingly we just moved down to 35 from 50+ and they still push every semester for tutors to take more than the ‘maximum class size’ rather than opening more classes. Teaching is seen as a cash cow and teaching staff as disposable. Breaks my heart.

@CasualsMonash Not that it’s directly relevant, but I’ve had way more than 25 students in my tutorials. I think my record was an online tute with 38 students enrolled. (Because online classes are “less work” and don’t need to be manageably sized, apparently)

Casual tutors are reporting classrooms with 25 students in a room this semester. Here's how that breaks down on costs:

@drdgrantsmith @tracey_west4 I was impressed when an incoming Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor requested to teach undergrads. Having the higher-ups continue to be a part of bread & butter activities of a university is of huge benefit
