When offered #Bowelscreen just do it . There's a push for checking prostates that unfortunately is much less beneficial than screening for colon cancer, but poor uptake for bowelscreen. Bowel cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer death in Ireland after lung cancer.

@NiecyOKeeffe @mccarthymt7 Very important and thanks for raising this @NiecyOKeeffe. Published information tends to be anodyn and vaguely reassuring, lacking detail. Different people have different information needs. Personally I'd rather be relieved that it was better than expected.

To be quite honest, I didn’t 💯 know what a breast biopsy entailed before I agreed to it. Now I’m in a heap, 4 weeks later. I adore the consultant, the nurses and doctors that looked after me. The best of us. But could we not have an educational conversation about what happens?

@drmarkmurphy @IrishTimes @ITletters Spot on Mark. Important this area is explored. @irishtimes would be best advised to ask you to write an opinion piece on screening. It would be informative, balanced and accurate. Unlike their piece on prostate that their readers are ill-served by.

My response to inaccurate information which @IrishTimes published on #prostatecancer & #screening was not accepted in @ITletters. Given the gravity of publishing incorrect recommendations & the impact this has on men & front line GPs, it’s important to have the error documented.
