“Because solar doesn't work at night either (nonexistent) battery storage…” Batteries are non existent? We have batteries! We can charge them! This is ubiquitous technology! I can buy a solar powered battery for my portable devices from Amazon for $30.

Saw my heart doc for a checkup. (I'll probably live.) Chatting politics, she did a standard New York moan about Trump ("horrible") but went on to say "Is it really going to be Biden and Trump next year?" "Trump's awful and Biden's...old." A lot of mainstream Dems aren't thrilled.

@ElectroDeeJ How about a religion that says every person you come in contact with - no matter whom - is to be preserved at any cost - regardless of their actions or background? That would work a lot better than what they conjured. A LOT better.

@ElectroDeeJ The religions that have had us trying to annihilate one another for thousands of years are programs to "prevent" said conflict? These are some spectacularly inept alien creators. I can think of 15 fictions in as many seconds that would be much more effective to this end.

@JamesSurowiecki I'm not a fan of Vivek and he's not saying what he *should be saying but I'll say it for him. The interview clip presents him with a false binary (inside job or gov is telling the truth). He should say "there's an option C". 🤷‍♂️

I don't understand where Ramaswamy is going here. Why wouldn't he say "9/11 was not an inside job"? And what's the "how many federal agents were on the planes?" question about? Is he suggesting the US govt sent federal agents on kamikaze missions?

@bstewart1776 Right - so - is abstaining from the pledge a "criticism"? If the analogy is family - is the pledge saying "I love you"? I can't imagine a situation where my criticism of my family members precludes me from saying "I love you". That's not a "criticism".

@drdredel Just so. And the full Baldwin quotation (from “Notes of a Native Son”) is as follows: “I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.”

Failing to stand for the Pledge is an odd way to demonstrate that you love America more than any other country in the world.

@bstewart1776 And it would make sense to me if America had ventured into a state of Germany 1939 (or whatnot) but America is, by most measures, doing its best to follow through on its ideals (today, more than ever, I think).

@bstewart1776 I am not sure that I love America "more than any other country" but I think that it's childish and peevish to not express appreciation if, indeed, you *do feel that appreciation (in whatever fashion).

That's someone capable of going alone with the crowd eating some adderall and cramming for a degree for self-importance

Media literacy tip: Watch out for language like “experts believe” — who are these experts? How many were asked? How were they chosen? What are their credentials as they relate to this specific topic? Is there REALLY a consensus? I recall a viral tweet going around from someone who had a “Dr” in front of their name. This was widely cited by media outlets, even. The tweet was on a medical matter. Only a little digging revealed that the “Dr” in question had expertise in archeology, not medicine.
