Madeleines doesn't flinch away from the woman Claudia is the same way Louis does. To acknowledge how Louis failed and continues to fail Claudia. The betrayal sits alongside the love, it frankly makes it worse because it still was never enough for either of them.

This gets into romance of Claudeleine, which is her agency in that dynamic. She chooses to show Madeleine her diaries, when she tells Madeleine about the embarrassment of the theater she is listened to and encouraged to do what she needs to do to survive.

My thing about this Louclaudia conversation, is that Interview with the Vampire has always been a story about failing your child. Claudia was Anne Rice's dead daughter first, and the series was supposed to just be the one book. That is a fact of the books that cannot be ignored

@coldeveryseason When Claudia tries to convince Louis to burn Lestats body, he chokes her against a wall. Im not saying Louis is comparable to Lestat or Armand but it is important that Louis also an abusive parent and fails to protect Claudia time and time again, and this is part of his guilt

@coldeveryseason joining the coven, getting with Madeleine and growing beyond him, even as he continues to prioritize his desires over hers. I believe he thinks he can get Armand to move in her favor, until Armand refuses to turn Madeleine, but hes not doing it *for* her.

whenever people say louis is with armand to protect claudia, this argument plays in this scene with the clown music blaring over it. MIND YOU. Louis goes and locks down armand frfr in the next fucking scene. He'd leave Claudia in a hot car to go get his man 🤦🏾
