#OnePiece Incoming very long rant: The worst part of the Mihawk and Shanks debate is that you can’t even make any actual analysis or theories about Mihawk’s character because you’re met with illiterate agenda heads if you try. A core part of Mihawk’s characterization is that he is the strongest. It is the centerpiece of his character, and any analysis on him requires understanding this. You can’t talk about how this strength of his, led to a life of isolation and how it is Oda’s meditation on what the pinnacle of power leads to. You can’t talk about how Zoro was similar to Mihawk at the start of his journey, sailing alone to grow stronger, a vagabond looking to fulfill a promise. Until he met Luffy and learned what you gain by having others to rely on, and the strength gained by having others rely on you. You can’t discuss how Mihawk embodies the pinnacle of solitary strength as an antithesis to what Luffy’s true power represents. This is why, of everyone in the series, Mihawk is the one who first explains Luffy’s true power in Marineford, to rally those around him, friend or foe. And who says this? The guy who sails alone, the embodiment of the exact opposite. You can’t bring up how Mihawk was angry with Shanks for sacrificing his arm and ambition for another, unable to understand why someone so talented would give up his future for someone else. But when he saw Zoro bow his head and abandoned his own pride for Luffy, he began to understand why Shanks did something similar as well. You can’t mention how that moment caused direct character growth for Mihawk and likely lead to him training Zoro and allowing Perona live with him. You can’t bring up how Mihawk is a foil to Whitebeard, the world’s strongest man, who sailed the seas seeking a family, while the world’s strongest swordsman sailed in isolation, refusing attachments. You can’t talk about how Mihawk is self-sufficient in every single way, purposely ensuring he depends on no one for anything. Cooking his own food, living alone, with no crew, no allies, no navigator, no helmsman, no doctor, or need for help from anyone involving anything. You can’t discuss how that is likely because of the great betrayal he suffered in the past and how that led to him wanting to rely on others as little as possible. You can’t mention how his first fight with Zoro, it isn’t Zoro’s skill or swordsmanship that first gains his attention and respect. Both rather his will and ambition. When Zoro refused defeat at the cost of his own life is when Mihawk first saw the potential of a man that could finally surpass him. A man so hellbent on keeping a promise that his life was an afterthought to it. You can’t discuss how the final fight between him and Zoro is a clash of ideologies: a man who believes in strength gained through solitude and perfecting one’s craft, stemming from a past betrayal, versus a man who grew from that mindset to understanding the value of having others you love and want to protect. You can’t discuss any of these incredible parts of his character because all you’re met with is idiotic children crying about their favorite redhead being weaker than him. His character is so layered with writing and subtlety, acting as a foil to so many others. Yet it is all ignored because this community can’t possibly fathom what Oda has spelled out for them for 30 years straight. Oh but I forgot, Vista 🤓

Ive gotten multiple responses like this and it to shows how disconnected people are from what black rock sounds like. His first 3 albums are full of rock but people don't recognize rock unless it has all the soul removed and comes from white people who cant play their instruments

@SunGodNika1914 @resurrecti0ns Well that's because when Euker first described imaginary numbers they were clowning him by called them imaginary Nowadays within the field they call them complex numbers

@resurrecti0ns Like i actually cant explain Fourier transform and the complex plane in laymen terms. Mathmeticians tried with “imaginary numbers” but this just lead to even more people being confused and them thinking “imaginary numbers” are “made up”.

it straight up never occurs to some people that there are some ideas that you can't really understand as a layman because they're too complicated. and it would be a bad thing to pretend otherwise and only pass down warped, extremely simplified versions of those ideas!
Coren ✒🎨@CorenLaVolpe

Truly intelligent people can describe complex ideas in a way that a layman can understand. Being verbose is intentional obfuscation to maintain their little "elite" circle.

Mao proved that recently-illiterate preindustrial Chinese peasants could understand and successfully parse Marxist theory in the 30s-50s, why are you pretending that literate postmodern ppl won’t be able to get it? ridiculous stuff here
J. Ryder🪿@harbingerofwoke

Its not that reading theory is wrong, but it’s undeniably alienating to any potential mass base. You need politics that can mobilize people without reading. Look at MAGA, does their base need to read Milton Friedman to be MAGA? They can embody their ideology through everyday life
