AI doesn’t fit anywhere in the writing classroom. First-year students and emerging writers don’t need it, nor is it beneficial for their development, from everything I’ve seen.

@BestStephenD @rrandolphjr That’s primarily because of problems with education structures and funding. The average high school grad used to be far more literate than those of today. We’ve gone downhill mostly due to more recent policies, such as No Child Left Behind in the U.S.

@rrandolphjr To be sure, AI has no place in the writing 'classroom' if the objective is to teach sound writing skills. It is interesting to me, however, how poor most people's writing skills are after spending 12 or more years in most education systems.

if you’re trying to “save time” as a writer by using AI, i suggest you find another profession. it takes time to write well, time to write exciting books. it takes time to write one good poem. i’ve spent years on a single poem. the time spent learning one’s craft is everything
