2023 Oklahoma is the perfect example of this, where by late September, they were Top 2 in FPI because they throttled weak teams with an up-tempo offense.

@StanleyCougar I would say running up the score on bad teams doesn't *necessarily* translate to high-level success. Plenty of great teams throttled weak schedules (see 2018 Clemson). The issue is that if you do throttle a weak schedule, computer ratings will love you even if it's a mirage.

The biggest reason the committee put in an Alabama team, that limped into the end of the season, was the four-game "gauntlet" of ranked opponents they beat. UGA Mizzou Vandy Tennessee Those teams went 0-4 this bowl season. Alabama lost 38-3. Take a bow committee, you did it
