@SocietalCanary @karlykingsley If the wages offered are inadequate and no one takes the job then there is a conflict of rights. If a job offers too low of pay and is vacant for 6 months then the patient rights are technically violated for 6 months. Thus, healthcare is a service not a right.

@RoaringHammy Because once you have $100k saved you are on top of your monthly cash flows. When you are top of your monthly cash flows you can reliably save/invest every month. A high percentage of people never get to this step.

@mrmikeMTL Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches. It has protein, fat, carbohydrates, potassium, and some vitamins/minerals. It is also fairly filling, easy to digest, and tastes good.

@Peter_Bukowski @BrianPiechowicz It is the void left by American football. The top male athletes play American football and the top female athletes play soccer. Both are fall season sports. Look at the male specimens playing WR or DB in the NFL. Their agility, acceleration, coordination, and speed are insane

What’s the best explanation you’ve heard for why the US women kick ass in soccer and the US men, well … don’t?

@paulfabretti @Peter_Bukowski In US, both football and soccer are fall sports through the school system. The best male athletes play football in the fall as teens/children. The best female athletes play soccer in the fall as teens/children. Have a nice day.

@Peter_Bukowski This is actually a fascinating question, to which I’d dearly love to know the answer. As a Brit living in the US it seems to me that the clubs and structures seem to be the same for both genders.

@FGLev @zionszzn If your sabbatical doesn't improve your skills in some way it will negatively impact your career as an employee. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the original poster asked the question.

@drfriske @zionszzn F**k off i strive and excel at saving so I can take a sabbatical and do MEANINGFUL travel in my prime years once every 5-10 years. A long weekend in Branson or a 7-day cruise doesn't cut it for me. If it's not funded by the state (unemployment or welfare) it's my prerogative!

Do employers actually care about “gaps in your resume?”Like can’t you just be like “yh I decided not to work for a year” as a flex?

@JezziiB So it is more dangerous for you for 9 months and it is more dangerous for male dominated jobs for a whole 30 year career? Trying to divide and compare people by sex always ends up making you look stupid because it is comparing apples to oranges.

I love reminding men that being a pregnant woman in the US is more dangerous than being a cop, a firefighter or working on an oil rig. ESPECIALLY when you are black, brown or indigenous.

@DevSportsTalk That's correct except baseball isn't a sport. It's a game where people stand around and do stuff every once in awhile.

The US can’t compete if we send our D tier athletes to the World Cup anymore tbh. These countries have no other sports to worry about their whole lives. Soccer development in the USA is only if you can’t play Football/Basketball/Baseball and you need a 4th sport to play

Remember, it’s not “the US sucks at soccer.” Rather: “the US men’s team isn’t elite.” The US women’s team has won the World Cup 4 times. We dominate international soccer—don’t you forget it! ⚽️🇺🇸

We’re so busy paying bills, chasing paychecks, and trying to make it to the next month that we rarely stop and ask a simple question: Why has simply existing become this exhausting? I don’t think life was ever meant to feel like an endless race just to survive.

A normal week in America right now. Work. Pay bills. Have nothing left. Repeat. No savings building. No debt shrinking. No retirement growing. Just the same loop. Every two weeks. Getting slightly more impossible each time. And being told this is what a strong economy looks like.

You are a man. On your morning trail walk, deep in the woods, you pass another man. You tell each other to have a good day and continue on your way. The end. You are a woman. On your morning trail walk, deep in the woods, you pass another man. You tell each other to have a good day and continue on your way. You now listen for footsteps coming up behind you. You scan the path in front of you looking for another man who might be lurking in the trees. You think about how the man seemed nice and friendly, but then you think about so did Ted Bundy. You plot escape routes and hiding places. Then you continue on your morning walk with a gnawing tug that pulls a bit of your awareness away from the beauty and nature around you and toward your own smallness and vulnerability in this world. The end. Leslie Senevey

Imagine working forty hours a week every week, for forty years straight. And being told that's "not enough" to retire comfortably, that you should've started a side hustle, invested earlier, lived smaller. Meanwhile the people telling you this had a pension waiting at the end of their forty years, no side hustle required. That's not advice. That's gaslighting with a financial advisor's haircut.
