@drhapgood

You've just got to go for it. (These are my thoughts and my thoughts alone, please don’t be offended by my honesty). #mutualdebate

Earlier this year, I set out plans to modernise the civil service - rewarding high performers, and strengthening accountability for those who fall short. Now, for the first time ever (!), pay rises for senior civil servants will be linked to performance - including the delivery of our political priorities.
Cabinet Office@cabinetofficeuk

The Government has introduced performance related pay for senior civil servants for the first time. Recognising and incentivising staff who deliver for the public. gov.uk/government/new…

I read that this trans Indian migrant who has managed to get elected to the Scottish Parliament has backed calls for Scots to pay reparations to Palestine. Here's the official Restore Britain response. Piss off.

Good luck to them. Our legislation will mean they’ll lose their jobs and their employer pensions if they do this. And save the taxpayer huge sums in redundancy pay! Everyone wins!

I just don’t think there should be a leadership challenge. Keir Starmer has a massive mandate given to him by the British people at the general election. I don’t think anybody in the Cabinet has a right to try to overturn that. I still hope there won’t be a leadership contest. If there is, it’s probable that Keir will stand himself and in which case, I’d be in his camp. What we need now is continuity. We need Labour to deliver on their manifesto. We haven’t even been two years into this government. telegraph.co.uk/gift/d0332ac86…

I can confirm that I will be requesting the permission of the NEC to stand in the Makerfield by-election. I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics. Ten years ago, I decided to leave Westminster. Why? Because, after 16 years, I came to the conclusion that our national political system does not work for areas like ours. I learnt this fighting its failure to invest in the Wigan borough, for justice for the Hillsborough families and against its treatment of Greater Manchester during the pandemic. Over the last decade, I have been challenging this failure from the outside and building a new and better way of doing politics. We have built Greater Manchester into the fastest-growing city-region in the UK and put buses back under public control, introducing a £2 fare cap to help people with cost-of-living pressures. However, there is only so much that can be done from Greater Manchester. Much bigger change is needed at a national level if everyday life is to be made more affordable again. This is why I now seek people’s support to return to Parliament: to bring the change we have brought to Greater Manchester to the whole of the UK and make politics work properly for people. Millions are struggling and they need the Labour Government to succeed. It has already made changes to make life better for them in its first two years. After this week, we owe it to people to come back together as a Labour movement, giving the Prime Minister and the Government the space and stability they need as the by-election takes place. I want to recognise the difficult decision taken by Josh Simons and the sacrifice he and his family are making. I have worked closely with him as Mayor on issues like flooding and illegal waste dumping and have seen first-hand how effective he has been. He has put the communities of Makerfield first, made a real difference for them and should take great pride in that. Finally, I truly do not take a single vote for granted and will work hard to regain the trust of people in the Makerfield constituency, many of whom have long supported our party but lost faith in recent times. We will change Labour for the better and make it a party you can believe in again. ENDS

The Prime Minister has told Cabinet what the country is thinking- stop the destabilisation, the navel gazing and get on with the job. I am backing him because voters did not elect us to turn inward and obsess over ourselves they elected us to deliver change for working people.

This is not a game. This instability has consequences for people’s lives. The people who will be hurt most will be those that elected us less than two years ago. We must unite behind the Prime Minister.

Starmer and Reeves are not kidding when they say this political uncertainty causes economic damage. The only “reset” being achieved at the moment is higher borrowing costs. Result? We’re all worse off. So deeply depressing.

Just out of Cabinet and then the Middle East Response Committee. The impact of the conflict in Iran will be felt here at home at a time when we know the cost of living has been difficult for many. This Labour government is working hard to protect families and businesses from the economic shocks as much as we can. Serious times call for serious leadership, which is exactly what the Prime Minister is providing.

I’m hearing that @UKLabour MPs are being briefed to say that if there is a change of leader it is inevitable that there will be a GE now. Why would anybody brief that? It isn’t true. We have a tendency to make matters so much worse than they have to be. It’s as if we like losing.

News🇬🇧💥: "Harriett 'Harm Them' Harman campaigned for a group called the Pedophile Information Exchange, (PIE). This group wanted to reduce the age of consent for sex in Britain to the age of 10 - claiming that 'sex with children does them no harm'. Starmer wants her to be his 'Minister for Women and Girls'. This is Starmer, this is Labour, this is Britain in 2026". George Galloway. Harriet Harman, a prominent British Labour politician and current member of the House of Lords, served as a legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL)—now known as Liberty—between 1978 and 1982. Veteran broadcaster and part of the Labour old Guard, George Galloway reinforces what many of have been saying about the demonic and vile people surrounding and supporting PM Keir Starmer and his toxic Labour Party. Civil servant here. If Farage wins the next GE, he'll call us all back to the office 5 days a week. The CS will then be on the verge of collapse, as thousands of people will either retire immediately or quit, due to the removal of WFH. Cheap optics will meet reality.

These have been a very difficult set of elections. I’ve felt that in Sunderland. But the answer is not to turn inwards. It’s to take responsibility, come together & face up to the challenges ahead. Keir has won before, he can win again. We need to deliver change, not chaos.

@NickStanley3 Ashamed is a strong word. I think we need to disassociate the sailors who do not have the power to change investment, but are loyal and hardworking and the bureaucrats who make the decisions, likely from a swivel chair. Royal Navy is a fantastic service, it’s just not supported.
