Am I crazy to think bad actors or even the government can attack bitcoin by uploading tons of illegal images and then start arresting people for running a full Node containing said images. I am talking about CP.

The point of the OP_RETURN opcode is to tell nodes the output is unspendable, and since it’s unspendable it’s completely irreverent to future transactions or the chain in general. Bitcoin isn’t built for storing assets, so the extra data is by definition spam. Back in the day people would upload full podcasts to the chain, then specific podcast nodes would not prune the transactions with the MP3 and serve them to the browser. Is this data guaranteed to be accessible for the rest of Bitcoins existence? Not at all. Once no node has the data archived it’s gone forever. ICP’s rent model is much more sustainable and suitable for assets. Paying once to have data stored for eternity (like Ethereum) is insane.
