@MattJennings337 @CallumGreenINV @juoig7799 @SW_Help I believe it's because the 158/9s spend a lot of time over 3rd rail. There's no dedicated drivers door so it's to minimise the risk of the door being 'popped' open on the crew valve inside the cab and someone potentially falling out of the door onto the track.

Time for me to ride on one of @SW_Help's 158 trains from Reading all the way to the terminus at Salisbury.

When you get not one, but two, consecutive "hole in one" brake applications with the stop mark lined up perfectly with the cab door 😁 I fear I may never repeat that feat 😂🚂

This week I added Barnstaple & Okehampton to my licence, meaning that I've now signed all that is left of the route of the 'Atlantic Coast Express'. A far cry from what it used to be, but still rather cool I think. If only I could drive Waterloo to Barnstaple in one go 🥲

Pretty much my reaction to being stopped at Wimbledon on the Down Fast, only to then get a 'S' in the route indicator. First time going down the slow line between Wimbledon and Surbiton since route learning!😅
