A few yrs ago, I took my medical students to Costa. We talked about our vulnerability as doctors, About burnout & boundaries. About how prioritising our own needs is essential "That was more helpful than any teaching session," one of them said. We need to talk about this.

Really tough day - such a hard decision to make & so sad to be leaving @FrimleyHealth & so many brilliant people - it’s been a huge privilege. Humbled to be offered such a prestigious role & really excited about the next adventure for me & my amazing family

It seems like we're all supposed to have an opinion, to come down on a side. What if our opinion is simply that evil seems to be winning - "evil" being xenophobia + hatred??? My heart is breaking for ALL of your families, ALL of the innocents. Please be kind to one another 💔

#GreatSouthRun done! 🏅 Was a tough one today but seeing all the people showing up, pushing themselves to their limits and raising awareness / funds for incredible causes was all the inspiration needed. Well done to all runners and fundraisers. You should be super proud 💕

You really can’t beat the power of cold water immersion 💦🥶 only 16 degrees today but it felt amazing! Immune-boosting, endorphin pumping, nervous system regulating and incredible to belonging to this bonkers community! #quayswimmytchett

1/People often ask is #FND neurological or psychological? I would argue this is the wrong question. Areas of the brain that process movement, pain & emotion are so intertwined there really isn’t such a division.

So proud of these staff from @FrimleyHealth completing their TRiM training with @MarchonStress so that they can support their colleagues in paediatrics and ED following potentially traumatic events. Huge thank you to Sarah and Jon for their amazing training. #TRiM

On Thursday we will launch our FHFT Culture and Leadership programme. You told us in our National Staff Survey that we needed to work harder on our culture. We've heard you, and now it's time to start that work. Please help us understand this work more deeply via this survey link

Useful article which outlines why psychological debriefing after trauma is not helpful. The same is NOT true for leader led, operational debriefings (done sensitively) which are part of a good organisational response to trauma. @MarchonStress @UKPTS
The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand@ConversationEDU

Psychological debriefing usually involves counsellors providing trauma survivors with a single counselling intervention within days after an event. However Richard Bryant from @UNSW says 'talking through' trauma can over-consolidate painful memories. #Echobox=1687316446" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theconversation.com/psychological-…

One model I use constantly is the "hierarchy of capabilities" from the book "Humanocracy: Creating organizations as amazing as the people inside them". As leaders we can expect people to follow the rules, be diligent in their work & to have expertise. But if we want people to take initiative, be creative & be willing to take risks, we have to create the conditions where they "want to" do these things. If leaders could support people to move up this pyramid, we could eliminate half the compliance load in a typical organisation. A summary from @MarcellaBremer: t.co/u4Q3qgQshq

Research shows that employee's willingness to support organisation-wide change initiatives has fallen drastically since the pandemic, across all sectors. A key reason? At a time when people are still recovering, the change is too fast & too top down. 4 ways forward: 1) Clearly prioritise change 2) Build in periods of proactive rest to sustain change energy 3) Co-create change with people at all levels 4) Reimagine the role of managers in change hbr.org/2023/05/employ….
