@joejpick @rachali79 @nelson_kamali @Leedsviv I have a large number of secondary care and primary care clinicians as patients. I worry about workload pressures and systems impacting their physical and mental health as both colleagues and patients….then impacting my non medical patients too!

Pt seen in hospital pre op prior to cystoscopy and apparently it’s up to the GP to action findings. I acquiesced on this occasion as couldn’t leave a patient without ABx but this is beyond a joke. #NHS

@joejpick @rachali79 @nelson_kamali @Leedsviv I apologies if it came across that way and thanks for highlighting this view. We are all very busy. The systems are not helping us work efficiently and effectively for the patients. Workload shift doesn’t help patients or staff alike. We make noise to try and fix systems.

@Leedsviv @rachali79 @joejpick @nelson_kamali I agree though neither the patient nor we have put primary care in this position. If we are overwhelmed by workload shift from primary care where does that leave the patients then? Medicolegal responsibility lies with hospital team requesting test. It is their job to treat here.

@drmattbest @rachali79 @joejpick @nelson_kamali It’s terrible for the patient if we say no though. Where does that leave them? And also what happens if we do say no and they go on to get sepsis? Not only is it unsafe it leaves us open to litigation

Do General Practice because a part of you likes General Practice, community care, and all it entails. Not because you think the grass is greener. Because right now, it stinks, and who knows when (if) the fertiliser will kick in... 2/2

Junior doctors, specialists, and medical students in the NHS If you are planning on doing GP JUST for the perceived lifestyle benefits rather than a want for doing GP then you will either: 😠 hate it 😵‍💫 be crap at it 😫 burn out 🛫 change/leave after realising your error 1/2

@SaliWho @GeeKidd101 @emmamcneil @amateuradam We GPs are happy with it though there are plenty of restrictions as dipstick testing is not reliable in certain age groups to confirm or refute infection. Pharmacists can and do help in those patients whom they can use this sort of test to confirm likelihood of a UTI.

Ah well, we had nearly 100 years of antibiotics working.

There is a NHS workforce crisis. What bothers me most about the 2 week appointment target is the negative effect it will have on staff that we’re already on the brink of leaving. This strategy demonstrates a very poor grasp of the issues. @Commodore_Bob @Devon_LMC @drmattbest

@jamie_wallis My wife bought me a German bag for my birthday a few years ago and it is very good and well made. Highly recommended: duerasol.de/en/doctor-s-ba…. You can get it in the UK. Isn’t a bag that you loose everything at the bottom of; good design and layout! Big decision; good luck!

Trying to choose a doctor’s bag which will last me until the end of my career (so another 30 y if I’m still alive!). Had ‘Elite’ bag after I first got my CCT but quickly became raggy so ideally want a leather one. Any good experiences? (It’s a lovely gift for my 40th from Neil)
