When I was applying to residency, a surgeon describing their program once said to me, “One of our residents graduated with >100 publications! If you come here, we can make you that superstar.” Think about that... >100! And it kept happening… 🧵//

@mahad_minhas I’m guessing that the breakdown by applicant type in the sections above that on the report give some insights into the various reasons- ie matched in early Match, Canada match, no interviews, etc.

@MegEileenGreen @mahad_minhas Yes going up, but by about a 1000 spots a year or so. Add in programs that have been closing due to funding and it’s a slow process. nrmp.org/wp-content/upl…

@francisdeng @mahad_minhas If your program is small you can have an all out policy. All in just means it’s either all match or no match. Many fellowship programs and some small residency programs will do outside offers and then not enter the match.

@mahad_minhas I have always wondered how "prematch" offers work (eg how can you do it despite the All In policy), how many military spots there are, how many integrated ophtho or uro programs there are, etc. and do these scenarios fully account for the large diff between ERAS and NRMP apps?
