@frostman007 Scorpion's Revenge was the best. Cage Match was good, but hard to reconcile with the films set afterward. Battle of the Two Realms was pretty good, but Cage was wasted. Snow Blind was very good, but really bleak.

I think I've seen all of the animated Mortal Kombat movies at this point and feel that "Scorpion's Revenge" is still my favorite. What's yours?

@Ultrakyriel I think people, or at least Western people, hope for a certain catharsis that justifies the bullying they endured. But it doesn't usually work that way. Other fans from the same time period may empathize, but new normie fans probably don't care.

@drngor Which is sadly a very toxic mindset for me. I don't think people should use being bullied as an excuse to indulge in toxic behaviour when they are older. Even the bullied can be bullies themselves.

It's weird how some Godzilla sadly seems to hate the idea that a Godzilla movie can appeal to non-fans. When all the JP Godzilla movies directors wanted their work to appeal to general audiences. If they failed to appeal to casuals, the franchise stays dead.

@Ultrakyriel I can't help but wonder if certain fans, especially those who might've endured being made fun of because of their tastes (happened to me in the 4th grade), hope that people will now prostrate themselves in front of them and ask for their wisdom.

@drngor They like to think they are the true fans unlike everyone else lol. Franchise that pushed out casual audience eventually ends up dead.

Mortal Kombat (2021) is a very frustrating experience. A film that acts like a glorified prequel to a much greater film rather than its own singular experience. It’s got the look down, the gore, the characters, the fatalities and has laid a foundation for something that could be truly special. But for everything it gets right, the film keeps tripping over itself with an equal amount of questionable creative choices. Cole Young and his stupid family stink to high hell, the fights are equally as bad as the 1995 film (minus the Reptile and Scorpion fights) and the film is far too focused on set up. Yet even with all of these overwhelming problems, they can be easily corrected with the sequel. The potential is there, the groundwork is laid, now capitalize.

@BlackMajikMan90 In the '95 version, he felt like a character. Not a deep one, but a character. I didn't get that vibe in the '21 movie.

Mortal Kombat 1995 and 2021 both have something in common. They waste Goro.

Mortal Kombat (1995) is held up purely by aura, a killer soundtrack, two legendary fights and Linden Ashby. Everything outside of those things is subpar AT BEST. Paul WS Anderson owes much of his career to Robin Shou because without those last minute reshoots, this film would not have been remembered as fondly as it is today. There’s entertainment to be had here but nostalgia is one hell of a drug

@ScoochSlam I'm 44 and am doing a neuropsychological evaluation to find out if I have it. At this point, it may be more of a "Well, so many things from my childhood/adolescence make sense now" situation, more than something to affect my future.

I think I may be autistic but is it worth getting a diagnosis this late in life? What can they do for me? Just say yes you are good luck out there
