I say this as a diehard baseball fan, but MLS has never had as great a chance as they do now to take MLB viewership. There’s a soccer craze sweeping the country coinciding with a nasty and prolonged 2027 MLB lockout. The quality of MLB play is also way down Huge MLS opportunity

Nobody in Europe thinks the US lacks wealth, cars or houses. This was not a surprise to anyone. They do think the US has extreme levels of crime and violence, dire health outcomes, authoritarian policing, and a corrupt President — because this is just objectively true.

@CFCPys Enzo stays, and we're ok. Depth is crap though - Lavia/Essugo/Reece cannot be relied upon to stay fit.

@ClayTravis No developmental pathway between the age 8-college age except for expensive travel ball that's more focused on profits. MLS/Domestic soccer is awful, so you tend to not sustain the national passion outside of WC/niche fandom.

Extremely lazy — and common — argument. We have the luxury of wealth and a huge population in a sports obsessed country. We can — and should — be great at every sport we play in decent numbers. And millions of kids now play soccer every year. Way more 14 year olds play soccer here than in Belgium.

@JakeAsman He’s not…he flunked out of the PL with Chelsea, he can’t deal with physicality. He’s good in Italy and in low intensity qualifiers, but when space gets tight, he ain’t got it.

Not a soccer expert, but if Christian Pulisic is as great as everyone says… Shouldn’t we expect more from him in a game like this?

@RealMitchHowe I watch PL, Champions League, and El Clasico. Maybe some Championship when pro/rel is in play. MLS just isn't high quality soccer at this time.

I keep seeing folks shit posting about MLS and saying they don't watch because MLS isn't "good." If you watch soccer but don't watch MLS, what is the worst league in the world that you consider "good?"

@NobletStrength Wrong…we don’t hate MLS - it’s a completely irrelevant league. We do respond to say we somehow “must” support this amateur and retirement home league. I’d love it if MLS turned itself into a top 3 league in the world. Let me know when that happens.

It's worth mentioning that the strongly anti-MLS soccer fans in America is mostly an "Too Online" phenomenon. Most normies end up loving their local MLS teams and even those other fans that prefer Premier League just kind of watch it and don't shit talk MLS.

@sgevans It's well behind Europe's top 5 leagues. It's not mine (the tix are as expensive as my Chelsea Tix and I have to pay to watch on TV - i get PL games for free). It's an inferior product re: world soccer and other US sports.

Most of those Norwegian and Scottish fans, that people were so impressed with in recent weeks, when they get back home they support their local clubs week in, week out - not EPL teams. Would be great if most USMNT fans did the same. And it helps the national team ultimately.
