If you sell and can't deliver, you should be responsible for the price difference for new tix on a posted credit card or collateral. Exactly like.... Shorting stocks? But of course StubHub doesn't want to upset it's preferred sellers.

A @StubHub story a @coachella buyer just relayed to me. This buyer bought a pair of GA passes last week for $1108.00 each with fees. A $2200 order. He called Stubhub yesterday and spoke to a customer service rep that assured him if his tickets didn’t ship replacement tickets would be available. This morning he woke up to an email that brought up pic 1 to select new tickets because his seller couldn’t fill the order. He clicked on the link only to get pic 2 which shows no replacement tickets are available. Picture 3 shows there is tons of inventory on Stubhub currently. He called Stubhub and the rep got into an argument with him that Stubhub has no tickets for sale and that he would get a refund. The buyer doesn’t want a refund. He has a $900 round trip flight booked. A $1000 a night hotel booked and had been looking forward to this trip. On the Stubhub side, they will fine the seller that busted the order if they can find the seller. They would not eat 4k which is what it could have costed the company to take care of this order. This is everyday business at multiple exchanges with tens of orders for Coachella. 🤦‍♂️

A little update and a few notes on the wind situation at Coachella today + tomorrow: • A windblown dust advisory has been extended through Sunday afternoon, with gusts up to 45 mph. If you’re camping (and your canopy survived last night)…it’s a good idea to take it down — or at least remove the top — before heading into the festival today. • Last night: a lighting fixture (not a speaker, as has been widely reported) did fall on someone at the Do LaB due to the wind. They sought medical attention and — thankfully — reports say they’re okay. The stage was closed for the remainder of the night, and additional safety checks have occurred on production overnight. • Anyma’s set was canceled — not necessarily because of conditions during his time slot, but due to earlier winds during changeover that made it unsafe for crews to build out the production. • Multiple sources are also indicating that some productions are already being adjusted or scaled back starting today to reduce risk of further delays for the remainder of Weekend 1. Stay safe — and enjoy the rest of the weekend, whether you’re in Indio or streaming at home. 🦉

@TheFestiveOwl This happened to a ton of us for Phish at Sphere once prices went into the thousands. I've learned my lesson too many times to believe there is any accountability for Stubhub and their preferred sellers. I would always be wary of any purchase which doesn't have instant delivery

In a secondary market ecosystem that’s already terrible — what StubHub and other third-party platforms are allowing to happen right now with Coachella W1 tickets this week is almost criminal. Demand has surged over the last ten days for wristbands ahead of this weekend, and with that, so have prices. People who purchased “guaranteed” orders months ago — when prices were a fifth of what they are now — are being left completely stranded as sellers default, don’t deliver passes, and then relist those same tickets for 4x the cost…with zero accountability. Meanwhile, the people who planned ahead are left high and dry with travel already booked and little to no options to even get into the festival — outside of getting desperate and paying $3,000+ for a GA wristband. The systems meant to get tickets into people’s hands are fundamentally broken, and it only incentivizes more of this behavior. And it’s not just a few isolated cases…we’re talking entire groups of 5+ people being left hanging as platforms fail to deliver on “guaranteed” entry, while sellers are essentially committing fraud against people who trusted those tickets would show up. What a shame this is what it’s come to. 🦉
