I looked for the strongest arguments on why people oppose VOTER ID. The top two are as follows: 1) In the U.S., the right to vote is protected under the Constitution (14th, 15th, 24th, and 26th Amendments). So if voting becomes conditional on having an ID, it's creating a barrier to a civil right. 2) The DMV sucks and is time consuming to go to, particularly for those who have to take time off to do so, students or rural voters. It's also more difficult for elderly voters to obtain, argue those opposed to it. A 2020 study by the Brennan Center for Justice found that 11% of eligible voters in the U.S. do not have government-issued photo ID and that this disproportionately affects the groups mentioned above.

What sensible forward thinking cutting edge leading nation is having a DEBATE on whether or not there should be VOTER ID?!?!!!! Like?!?!? They’re actually fighting NOT to have ppl present ID while voting for your leaders!!!!! Do you get it?!?!!!! Do you get it now?!?!!!

@MichaelMaiello @mysteriouskat Perception of fraud is just as important as actual fraud. Confidence that your vote counts in the Republic is vital to it's survival

@mysteriouskat Anyway, what problem are we solving here? The US does not have a voter fraud issue.

OK, critics, once again… You could just read the article… “Journalists do not have a special license to break generally applicable laws. When the pastor of Cities Church asked Lemon to leave, he no longer had the right to stay. FIRE recently explained that the First Amendment does not protect the protesters’ act of commandeering private property for their own ends, even if they did so to send a political message. Not only is such conduct unprotected, but it interferes with others’ ability to exercise their own rights to free speech and freedom of religion.”

Bukele asks the touch question: why do human rights organizations not care about the human rights of the majority of the population - the ordinary, honest people who are the real victims and left behind by the state and the legal system in the name of the human rights of the few?

@Ruri127751 @lindaspatterson @wil_da_beast630 @gork I've had plenty of police interactions in my life. I've also read and watched many more since the 90s at least. If you think most miscarriages of justice are based on Republican or Democrat politics you're purely ignorant.

@lindaspatterson @drrandomguyy @wil_da_beast630 @gork ... And at what point have conservatives done it to leftists? Like seriously, im really confused how youre taking a clearly one sided issue and trying to make it seem universal. How retarded are you bitch???

Rittenhouse SPECIFICALLY avoided fighting police, because "c'mon - that means death, armed as I was, in an active riot situation," and has written and spoken about this over and over. After the shooting that did occur, he repeatedly tried to surrender - to decrease risk to himself, police, and even opps. You can like the Kenosha Kid or not, but this is all VERY well known.

AOC: "How rich is it that she is saying showing up to the scene of a protest with a legally owned weapon should be grounds for a person's death, execution at the hands of the state, by the same party and administration that praises Kyle Rittenhouse."

A mass extermination is under way in Iran. Captured dissidents held in giant warehouses are being murdered in batches. If help really is on its way, as the build-up of US forces in the region may or may not suggest, it comes too late for the tens of thousands who have reportedly been murdered -- due to more than four decades of appeasement of the fanatical Iranian regime by the not-so civilised world, much of which continues to shrug this aside.
Omid Memarian@Omid_M

“The people of Iran are living through a nightmare. This is the worst mass murder in Iran’s contemporary history. Our beautiful country has become a cemetery in which the hopes of our youth are buried.” Watch these powerful and urgent remarks — and a devastating story shared by Dr. Payam Akhavan, former UN legal advisor on war crimes tribunals, former Special Advisor on Genocide to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and one of the world’s leading international human rights lawyers — speaking at the @UN_HRC. His words are a searing indictment of the violence facing Iranians today — and a warning the world cannot afford to ignore. #IranMassacre

Border Patrol seized $40,000 from a Texas nurse that she was going to use to start a clinic in Nigeria. They never charged her with a crime. Because she hadn’t committed one. That the government “created a monster” with its civil forfeiture laws is an understatement.

@CathyYoung63 I appreciate the source, but sounds a bit more complicated than what it is saying here. Sounds like cooperation broadly on the state level, but local level individual jails are not being fully cooperative? * Source is local Fox channel and summary below

This is insane, and the whole "gentle, prey, rabbit" everything needs to be ripped out by the roots. I don't say this to be edgy. Rules actually are not ultimately real. This is not the code they are using to train in China, rising West Africa, Arabia, EASTERN Europe (where bears teach women to wrestle and women teach the men), etc.
